Key things
- The golden bell symbolizes the Shandorian ancestors and Luffy taps it to help the descendants.
- The Poneglyphs contain historical knowledge and lead to a laugh story where One Piece is believed to exist.
- Among the ancient weapons are Pluto, Poseidon and Uranus, each associated with rising sea levels with destructive potential.
The titular macguffin of One piece is an artifact whose exact nature is unclear, but is at least confirmed to be a physical object. Since the execution of Gol D. Roger, which was intended as a deterrent to all pirates, many have ironically decided to turn to piracy out of interest in this mysterious object as well as Roger's treasure.
Monkey D. Luffy is one of these many pirates who want to become the pirate king. Roger's discovery of One Piece apparently allowed him to do the same, which is why so many people are looking for him. That said, it is far from the only important artifact identified in the story. Here are some other important pieces of the puzzle.

Oda modeled some of his characters from figures within popular culture. Below are some examples.
5 The golden bell
The Light of Shandora
Kalgara, a Shandorian warrior and Wyper's ancestor, explained that the Golden Bell has many purposes. It signaled their presence to the world, symbolized their ancestral home, and represented their lack of fear of intruders. Gol D. Roger had Kozuki Oden write a message on the doorbell when they bumped into him. Recently, Luffy bumped Enel into this artifact for Mont Blanc Cricket, a descendant of Noland, a friend of Kalgara, to hear. Unfortunately, the bell tower in which he was housed was also destroyed.

One Piece: 5 Characters Who Won't Be Coming Back
For one reason or another, these characters are unlikely to return to the series in the foreseeable future, if ever.
The bell rang again to thank the Straw Hats who fled the island before the Shandorians could thank them. Since the timeskip, the bell has been restored to good condition and cleared of the vines that once surrounded it.
4 Poneglyphs
Ancient inscriptions
These gigantic stelae contain untranslated historical knowledge. Only two living individuals can read them: Nico Robin, the only scholar to survive the massacre at Ohara; and Kozuki Sukiyaki, a descendant of their creators. The stelae are said to be indestructible – probably because if they weren't, the world government would have destroyed them by now.
These cubic structures currently have three known variants. Historical poneglyphs, as their name suggests, document news and information related to ancient history. Instructional poneglyphs guide readers to historical ones. Finally, the road poneglyphs are four red colored poneglyphs (rather than the typical dark blue variant). These allow the reader to enter the Story of Laughter where One Piece is supposed to exist.
There is also the Rio Poneglyph, a combination of nine individual Poneglyphs. It is believed to contain the true history of the world, including the forbidden “Void Century”, which people were murdered for trying to research.
3 Ancient weapons
Weapons of mass destruction
Pluto, Poseidon and Uranus, active during the Great War, are apparently responsible for the continued rise in sea levels. Joy Boy was involved in their preservation for reasons that are currently unknown. Many power-hungry individuals seek to collect one or more of these items, viewing them as a deterrent to anyone who would challenge their power.
Pluto
Proclaimed as “the world's worst battleship”, Pluton was created in Water 7 long ago. It is said to be capable of destroying islands with a single shot and lies dormant beneath Wano's Mt.Fuji. Spandam convinced the Five Elders to allow him to obtain the plans for Pluton to create a countermeasure. In reality, Spandam wanted to recreate Pluton, overthrow the world government with it. Said plans have been passed between boatmen in Water for 7 years.
Tom, Franky and Iceburg's mentor, was one of their last recipients. Spandam's operation to obtain the plans was the main reason Cipher Pol 9 infiltrated Water 7. However, Franky destroyed the plans, preventing the government from creating any direct countermeasures against the ancient weapon.

One Piece: 5 characters that were born during the story
These characters were only born after Monkey D. Luffy began his journey. So most of them are children.
Poseidon
Poseidon is a mermaid princess who can command and communicate with the Sea Kings, large water monsters that inhabit every ocean in the world. The potential of the ability depends on whose orders the Sea Kings follow, allowing for destruction or salvation on a global scale.
The current incarnation of Poseidon is Shirahoshi, a princess of the Ryugu Kingdom who is a distant descendant of another mermaid who once had this ability. Unable to control her powers at a young age, Shirahoshi inadvertently summoned sea kings with her screams. Years later, when her kingdom was under attack, she exerted a greater level of control over it.
Uranium
Uranus is currently unknown, but it probably shares the destruction potential of its counterparts. Caribou, who had learned of each weapon on his travels with the Straw Pirates, informed the Blackbeard Pirates of their existence. This likely means that Teach and his crew will be trying to collect them in the future.
2 An empty throne
Hollow Symbol
The Empty Throne is said to sit at the center of the world. It has existed for centuries and is said to have no inhabitants as a symbol of equality guaranteed by the world government. During Levela, people often gather around it, but no one, not even one of the Five Elders, is allowed to sit on it. Surrounding this massive throne are 19 weapons – those of the original 19 rulers who chose to become world nobles. Nefertari Lili's weapon remains absent.
In truth, the throne is occupied by Imu, the mysterious ruler of the world who commands the Five Elders. The existence of this being is kept secret in order to maintain the illusion that world government is a fair and equal system ruled by no single being. Cobra was murdered in part because of his identification with Imu, and Sabo's own discovery of the creature was met with similar attempts. Ultimately, the Empty Throne and the truth behind it will serve as a vital key to informing people of how world government really works.
1 Roger's straw hat
Currently on Luffy's head
Gol D. Roger wore this straw hat when he was just a rookie. He later passed it on to Shanks, one of his cabin boys. Shanks himself later allowed the young Monkey D. Luffy to borrow it, hoping that he would return the straw hat when he became a “great pirate”. It subsequently became Luffy's nickname as well as that of his crew. Due to its history as Shanks' hat, it holds great sentimental value for Luffy and also serves as a way to connect him to Roger remotely. Shanks is not shy about comparing his protégé to the legendary figure that was his former captain.
This means that the hat may have more historical value than once thought. A gigantic frosty straw hat is kept in Mary Geoise, the audience saw Imu looking through it. The meaning of this hat and its connection to Roger's hat are currently unknown.
