The Abyss is unlike any other Valorant map, which means picking the right agents for it can be challenging, whether it's your queue adventure or your Premier team. The verticality of this map along with the extremely slow rotations present a different challenge and you need to have the right agents if you want to win games.

10
Aster
Role: Controller
Specialty: Cutting vision
Astra is one of the best drivers for Abyss due to her ability to not only block enemy vision, but also her ability to disrupt enemy attacks with Gravity Well and Nova Pulse. Setting these abilities in front of her nebulas will punish anyone who dares to walk through the smoke.
Her ability to place stars down across the map also makes her great for ambushing, which is great when done over Mid.
Astra's most important ability on Abyss is Cosmic Divide. Positioning vertically over B will effectively limit the view from B Tower and B Link so the team can flood the place. You can also block the view from the tower and bridge to quickly deploy a force in front of the post.
9
Omen
Role: Controller
Specialty: Cutting vision
Omen is another option for controllers thanks to his Shrouded Step, which can help overcome sentry setups. This makes him an effective lurker when trips and traps are left unattended.
Omen can also place his smokes a short distance away so he can lurk in the middle and still provide his team with the smokes needed to enter locations.
His Paranoia is also great on Abyss when it comes to pushing into sites, as it will help clear commonly held angles like B Link or the A Site front.

Nick
Role: Sentinel
Specialty: Defense of places and guarding the wing
Lurking is powerful on Abyss, so having a Cypher to punish those who lurk will be essential for the team. Having a Cypher around will also allow the team to skew the numbers towards where the enemy is applying pressure.

The Moroccan spy master is known as a guard player in VALORANT because of the way he controls the flow of information for his team.
Cypher's Trapwires can also be used to stop enemies from getting to places easily. There are plenty of boxes and surfaces on the Abyss to place Cypher trips, and it's just a matter of making sure it's hard for the enemy to find and destroy them.
7
Blockage
Role: Sentinel
Specialty: Holding seats
Deadlock might not get a lot of playtime on ranked servers or even in pro-play, but this map is perfectly suited for it. Her barrier net can effectively delay the opponent's pressure and give the team enough time to rotate. This ability works best when placed in choke points on A Main and B Site.
The barrier net can also be used by attackers to take control of key areas such as B Tower and A Tower if your team has secured the location.
Her Sonic Sensor also works great for detecting movement and slowing down enemies on this map, as in many areas enemies can fall, jump, or climb.
6
Chamber
Role: Sentinel
Specialty: Conducting duels with advantageous objectives
Like Jett, Chamber is also the perfect agent for maintaining a connection with an operator. With sniper in hand, he easily takes control of Mid. He can also be aggressive by fighting in A Main or B Main right under the nest. If things look hairy, he can easily teleport away with his Rendezvous.
The best orbs on Abyss are placed in places that favor the attacking team. Early aggressive tackles as defenders can help secure those balls.
Chamber can also stop the push with his trademark that slows detected enemies. This is best placed at choke points or behind the team to watch the flank.
5
Gecko
Role: Initiator
Specialty: All Rounder
Gekko is a great initiator for this map due to his ability to do almost anything. His Moshpit can be thrown at choke points to hold off enemy pressure, or help clear commonly held spots, such as behind a box on B Site. His Dizzy can detect enemies holding from the front of A Site or B Link.

This Initiator has a lot of tools under it.
What makes Gekk even better on this map is his Wingman, who can be sent to plant or defuse a spike anywhere on the ground. If the coast is clear, it can be sent to plant on the ledge of B site all the way from B Main or A Bridge from A Main.
4
Owl
Role: Initiator
Specialty: Gathering information
The long rotations and open roofs of the Abyss make the Owl a great choice for the initiator role. Arrows across the maps to get information, as well as scout arrows to scan enemies during outpost hits, is what makes Owl so good, and this map is well designed for him.
When the attacking team gets the plant down, it is vital that someone goes back to A Main or B Main for a post plant. Owl is the perfect agent for the job, as his Recon Bolt can be used to reveal defusers for an easy wallbang. His Hunter's Fury will also make it easier to delay takedowns.
3
Jett
Role: Duelist
Specialty: Space Creation/Sniping
As much as we hate putting Jett on every one of our lists, she always manages to sneak onto them because she's good. With her Cloudburst and Updraft combined with Tailwind, she can quickly reach the surfaces found in both locations as the team floods behind her.

VALORANT: The Complete Guide to Playing Jett
Jett is a highly mobile VALORANT agent who can excel in combat and reach areas that are off-limits to most other players.
The long range angles of the Abyss mean that guns like the Operator and Outlaw are perfect for picking up tips, and the Jett excels at this with its ability to get out quickly after a shot. He can fight aggressively on A Main and B Main knowing he can run away safely.
2
Isa
Role: The second duelist
Speciality: Creating space / Fights with a goal
When it comes to picking a second duelist, Iso is a decent choice. With how powerful the operator can be on Abyss, his Double Tap shield can help counter him. Contingency can also be used to augment B Main and Mid or even A Bridge.
Iso's Undercut can be used to punish enemies that are aggressive and push out of A Main or B Main. When enemies are vulnerable, the rest of the team can focus on taking them down.
Iso's Kill Contract can also be used to capture agents holding common locations in different locations. This is especially useful when Iso can intercept a patrol and disable all of their tools for the time being.
1
Reyna
Role: Second Duelist
Specialty: Space Creation/Targeting Fights
Reyna is also a good second duelist, especially if you don't already have an agent with the blinding ability. Her Leer can help occupy or re-occupy areas in front of big boxes in both locations.
What makes Reyna a great second duelist is her ability to fight aggressively on A Main and B Main with Dismiss and escaping with her life. This means that the player you put on this agent should be a reliable aimer.
