How to craft gems in Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Gems are a unique type of equipment Dynasty Warriors: Origins which can be improved by creating more of the same kind. They provide useful bonuses that become especially powerful when paired with the right weapon. However, gem crafting is heavily based on luck, so you'll have to do a lot to level up your favorite gem.

While you don't have much control over which gems you make, there are ways to tip the scales in your favor. This guide covers the basics of gem crafting as well as strategies for more efficient gem upgrading.

How to make gems

You can create gems on any inn or tent you visit from the world map. Simply select Create Gems from the Inn menu and you will be taken to the crafting screen.

Crafting is unlocked when you get your first batch of Pyroxene, shortly after you first meet Zhuhe.

Crafting gems requires pyroxene – each pyroxene stone can be turned into one gem. You can use the D-Pad to select how many gems you want to create at onceup to the total amount of pyroxene you carry.

Every gem in the batch will be randomly selected from one of the five available types (see below). Occasionally, a single pyroxene will yield a A satisfactory resultthus creating three copies of the gem instead of one.

Each gem copy goes towards leveling that gemexpanding their abilities when equipped; the more of one type of gem you create, the stronger the gem will be.

How to get pyroxene

Pyroxen is sometimes given as a training reward or sent to you in letters, but most of your supply can be found in two ways:

Finding and defeating a Thief grants during battle 5 Pyroxene. They usually appear during fights against bandits and other lawless factions, although somewhat rarely.
You can collect pyroxene on the world map. It looks like orange crystals slowly respawnso it's worth wandering around the world looking for stones every now and then.

What are gems used for?

They exist five kinds of gemsand you can have one of five equipped at any time. Choose the right one for your build or for the upcoming battle to gain an advantage.

Types of gemstones

Jewel	Effect when equipped
Oblivion Gem	Increases the range of all attacks by 10%. The bonus increases by 1% with each gem level.
Vortex Gem	Increases damage done in aerial combo by 10%. The bonus increases by 1% with each gem level.
Scorch Gem	Increases counter parry damage by 10%. The bonus increases by 1% with each gem level.
Wellspring Gem	Heals 30 health with every 100th KO in battle. Healing increases by 5-6 with each gem level.
Ascendancy Gem	Provides a 30% chance to automatically block enemy officer attacks. The chance increases by 1% with each gem level.

Gem Crafting Tips

Once unlocked Eyes of the Sacred Bird ability during chapter one, you will have a chance feel the flash in the Pyroxen every time you enter Gem Crafting. when it happens three types of gems will shine. The next batch you make will be only include gems from these three typescompared to the usual five.

Following the Yuanhua side quest in the third chapter will allow you to collect Moongrass on the world map. Using Moongrass narrows flashes down to two kinds of gemswhich gives you even more precision when creating.

You can level up the gems you use the most save your Pyroxene until you get a flash for themthen create a large batch with less chance of getting the gems you are less interested in. There are two ways to do this:

Leaving and coming back later until you get the Glimmer you want is time consuming and results in slower growth, but gives you the best odds overall.
You can too craft gems one by one until you get Glimmer, then make a big batch. After each dose, regardless of its size, there is a new chance for Glimmer. This is more of a waste of Pyroxene, but it can level up other gems that might come in handy later if you switch builds.
