In a recent interview, Geralt's voice actor Doug Cockle offered his personal ranking of romances in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. His take differs greatly from the usual fan debate about Geralt's in-game romance possibilities by placing a relatively small The Witcher 3 character over two entrenched favourites.
In the nearly 11 years since the RPG's release, many online debates have taken place The Witcher 3 romance options focused on Triss Merigold and Yennefer of Vengerberg. This is basically by design, as the game presents them as the only two serious long-term relationship options for Geralt. However, the game also offers several opportunities for one-off flings. As it turns out, one of them left quite an impression on Cockle, enough to completely reject the notion that the “best” romance in the game is a binary choice between Yennefer and Triss.

A Witcher 3 fan points out a curious detail they claimed they didn't know about, even after recording roughly 1,000 hours of gameplay.
Doug Cockle chose Shani as the best romance in The Witcher 3
In a recent interview with YouTuber GoatedSynro, Cockle ranked his favorite romances in the game and chose The Witcher 3Romance Shani as number one. Below her, he named Triss, Yennefer, Keira Metz, and Sylvia Anna—in that order. Cockle presents the choice for Shani as driven more by temperament, stating that Shani “was the most realistic of them all”. This is largely because, in his opinion, Shani “kept her head on straight” when she left and didn't want to stick around because of how often Geralt is out hunting. Cockle framed this practicality as something that stands in stark contrast to the much more chaotic dynamic involving the two witches in the game, while also describing Shani as “good fun”.

Although the actor doesn't think Triss or Yennefer deserve the top spot, he was more than willing to join in on fans' endless debate about the novel's main choice in The Witcher 3. “I'm partial to redheads,” explained Cockle, before arguing that Triss feels “more like a friend with benefits” in the game, where she and Geralt can “laugh together.” In contrast, he claims that Yennefer was characterized as somewhat annoying, almost like a “naughty mom”. The actor concluded by talking up the two, saying they were comparably smart, powerful and beautiful, noting that his preference for Triss over Yennefer was purely a matter of taste.

Syanna
At the other end of the scale, Geralt's voice actor offered a more straightforward take. “Syanna is my least favorite because she's psycho,” the actor said with a laugh. He explained this by arguing that Syanna's “vibes” felt bad whenever she appeared, but also acknowledged that it never stopped Geralt from stalking someone. Part of what makes Cockle's choice remarkable is how little it affects Shani The Witcher 3 compared to the witches the game sets up as Geralt's “main” romances. IN Wild HuntShani's substantial screen time is concentrated Heart of stonewhere it is tied to the Oxenfurt storyline and a short sequence of quests that may culminate in a getaway sequence rather than an extended relationship arc.
Syanna is my least favorite because she is a psychopath.
Shania's relative absence The Witcher 3 it also obscures the fact that CD Projekt Red used her much more prominently earlier in the series. In the original Charmer since 2007, she is a recurring minor character in Vizima and one of the game's romance options, with players able to pursue her alongside (or instead of) Triss depending on choices. Remake of the first one Charmer the game, which is currently in development, will thus likely once again feature Shani as a more prominent character. The game itself was previously rumored for a 2027 release, but is now believed to have been delayed internally by a year after its developer, Fool's Theory, was assigned to support.
