Hyper Light Breaker it starts out a little slow, but once players start to improve they will be able to fly through these cycles with significantly less trouble. Meta-progression is a common feature of many games in the roguelike genre, and this one is no exception.

Meta-progression commonly refers to upgrades or improvements players can make outside of normal gameplay loops, and in many roguelike games these are usually small but significant improvements. Here are the progression paths players can expect Hyper Light Breaker.

Progress in Hyper Light Breaker

There are several ways players can progress Hyper Light Breakerand most of them come from NPCs and interactions that players have back at base. However, it will take some time for players to reach the point where they can truly be overwhelmed, so patience will be important here. The main ways to advance your meta progress is to upgrade the following:

Sellers and their affiliations
SyComs
Ex
Arch

Sellers

Traders inside Cursed Base in Hyper Light Breaker sell items that players can use during their overgrowth quests. By default, only the Blades merchant will be available, but once players start collecting resources, they will also be able to unlock the Rail and Holobytes vendors.

Players can also improve their relationships with vendors by offering them Gold Allotments. Improving your affinity with a vendor will unlock new features and bonuses for their shops, including the ability to upgrade equipment.

SyComs

SyComs are robotic drones that follow each character Hyper Light Breaker. These guys determine your Breaker's base stats and base passives – for example, Vermillion starts with Gunslinger SyCom, which gives him stronger ranged weapon damage and a unique passive that allows him to land consecutive critical hits.

You can improve the stats of your SyComs by spending materials you collect in Overgrowth. Additionally, you can unlock additional SyComs that provide a different layout of passive and base stats.

Ex

These are permanent upgrades that affect certain parts of your Breakers kit, such as medkit capacity, hoverboard and glider energy, and more. You can upgrade your Ex by talking to Pherus Bit, the NPC right outside the starting point at the base.

Exe bonuses may seem small, but later they become more noticeable and effective. However, you can only equip a limited number of these bonuses as determined by your free Exe slots.

Arch

The vault is basically the player's stash, and while it doesn't add much to your progress in and of itself, keep in mind that you can save gear you buy or find during the run for later use. Since weapons and holo-apartments can break, get some extra gear Hyper Light Breaker it will be a good idea more often than not.
