Disney officially turns 100 and the studio has been doing all sorts of fun stuff across its park to build to the occasion. There are naturally going to be a few things Disney fans can buy coming your way over the next few weeks, and what may well be the coup de grace of those celebratory products was revealed over the weekend. The Disney Legacy Animated Film Collection. A collection of 100 animated movies from throughout Disney’s history all in one massive box set.

Pre-orders for the massive collection start next week, and the set itself will be released on November 14, a month after Disney turns 100. As for which movies are included in the set, just about every animated film Disney and Pixar have ever released. From Snow White and the Seven Dwarves to Encanto. The set is split into three volumes, and all of the Blu-ray discs are in hardback cases that are clearly designed to look a little bit like storybooks.

On top of physical copies of 100 different Disney and Pixar movies, the set also comes with digital codes for all of them, not to mention lots more Disney goodies to celebrate the studio’s centenary. A print from Disney’s next animated film, Wish, and a very limited edition set of crystal Mickey mouse ears are also in there. Plus, owners of the set will get a certificate of authentication, although I can’t imagine anyone trying to make a knockoff version of it.

I know what you’re thinking right about now. How much does it cost? Yeah, it’s a lot. If you want to own what appears to be a very limited edition, but also incredibly special, set of 100 animated Disney movies, it’s going to cost you $1500. A heck of a lot of money, but to own physical copies of almost every animated Disney movie ever made across a 100-year period, not to mention everything else that comes with the set, it seems likely these will be snapped up fast.

You might look at this set and wonder what the appeal is when every single one of the movies included is available right now on Disney Plus. Other than owning a very cool part of Disney history, movies can disappear from streaming services whenever the owners of the platform feel like taking them away. There have been a lot of examples lately in TV, movies, and video games of titles being removed from services and platforms and disappearing forever. If you own physical copies of the media you love, that can’t happen.
