At last, your showdown with the Master of Puppets in Lies of P is close at hand. The hope of quelling the puppet frenzy lies squarely on your shoulders as tension mounts in anticipation for one of the journey’s most difficult boss fights.
But there is just one last obstacle standing in your way: the Estella Opera House itself – the last line of defense for the King. Filled with some of the strongest enemies you’ve seen up to this point, the King has certainly chosen some of his best warriors to guard his doorstep. And we’re to help you clean up his honor guard.
How To Find Adelina Corday And The Disruption Cartridge
Before entering the Estella Opera House, we highly recommend taking the time to return to Hotel Krat and upgrade as much gear as possible – your stats, your weapons, and your Legion Arm. Even the field enemies in this building are more difficult than those outside.
Additionally, pick up the items in the courtyard outside:
- An Attribute Purification Ampoule beside the angel statue south of the Stargazer
- An Electric Blitz Abrasive on the bench near the entry doors
- A Special Resistance Ampoule on the northeast side of the courtyard to the left of the far stairs and near the railing
Enter the opera house. There are several new enemies in here, and the first will be guarding the grand staircase at the entrance.
This new enemy, a marionette, is a small-statured puppet held on strings. Despite its size, it is far tankier than it appears and more resistant to staggering attacks.
It has erratic, diagonal movements that often combo into two-to-four attacks in a chain. These attacks create a new type of condition: Disruption.
Disruption is easily the most dangerous condition in Lies of P. When the meter is completely filled, you will immediately die regardless of how much health you have. This is similar to the Cursed effect in classic Dark Souls, or the Death Blight in Elden Ring.
There is a Special Purification Ampoule in the grand entrance in front of the central door that cannot yet be opened.
Take the stairs to the right wing of the opera house. There are two more of these dangerous marionettes in the pillared hall.
This fight is very dangerous due to the close quarters. We recommend taking your time and waiting for your moment during this fight, or leading the marionettes towards the entrance of the mansion. After a certain distance from the singing spider puppets, they will break free of their strings, becoming easier to take down.
Grab the Dark moon Moonstone of the Covenant in this area before taking the stairs up.
Another new enemy awaits here: a singing spider puppet. This puppet:
- Controls and buffs the marionette puppets to increase their stagger resistance, health, and damage output.
- Sings to create massive bursts of Disruption.
- Has only one physical attack with her front legs.
To defeat this type of puppet, you’ll want to be aggressive until she begins to sing. Immediately back off to avoid building Disruption and repeat when she stops.
A Vivid Ergo Fragment is sitting on the balcony to the left of her original position.
Follow the path to a door with a swinging, flaming chandelier on the other side. Look right to find a chest with the Belford Disruption Cartridge.
We highly recommend immediately equipping this cartridge for the remainder of the Opera House.
On the far side of the hall, climb the stairs to reach a small, green door. Open it and enter the room with Adelina.
Speak with her to begin her questline.
Wearing the White Lady’s Mask does not appear to have any effect on Adelina despite her dialogue.
How To Open The Estella Opera House Shortcut
From Adelina’s room, we recommend returning to the Estella Opera House Entrance Stargazer to restore yourself and your supplies. If you wish, you can use this chance to progress Adelina’s quest.
Enter the Opera House again and, this time, take the stairs to the left wing.
Much like the right wing, there are several marionettes in this hall. They are being buffed and controlled by the singing spider puppet up the stairs on the left.
Defeat all of these enemies and progress into the red-carpet hall on the main floor.
The hall is guarded by another singing spider puppet. This time, she’s brought four marionettes to do her dirty work.
After defeating them all, there’s a Fable Catalyst in the hallway on the right side.
Take the stairs on the right side of the hall. On this level, you should notice a door to a dark hall on the left.
Use your Gemini’s Lamp to light the hall as you enter. Follow it to a chest at the end containing a Technique Amulet (raises your Technique level by +4).
Down the hall, there is a strong enemy (a diva puppet) patrolling. The diva puppet is like the wheel enemy you face in Venigni’s Workshop, but it has the caveat of having a much larger reach, a dangerous jump-lunge, and generally faster attacks.
The best way to deal with the diva puppet is by luring it to the stairs near where you entered this area. This will cause the puppet’s attacks to slow as it repeatedly backs up in an attempt to return to its post.
On the far side of the hall where the diva puppet was patrolling, there is a room containing a safe. Inside is the Exploding Pickaxe Blade, a powerful Motivity weapon (B) with interesting properties.
Continue down the hall to discover an area with a golden statue. At the end of the area is another set of stairs with a Crescent Moonstone.
Go to the top to discover a shortcut door. This will open the door to the central chamber.
How To Find The Estella Opera House Basement
In the central hall past the shortcut door, you’ll enter the room with the swinging, burning chandelier. Rather than cross this beam, jump into the dark area below.
There is a Saw Blade in here. Grab it and exit the room through the nearby door.
Take the stairs to the left, take the Sawtoothed Wheel, and continue going up.
Another diva puppet is patrolling this corridor, but it is also accompanied by a singing spider puppet and her entourage of two marionettes. We recommend baiting the diva puppet down the stairs to split them up and take them out individually.
Like the above hall, take the Dim Ergo Chunk on the right side of the hall and continue forward.
In the next room, there is a journal on the bar: “Notes from an Experiment.” After taking it, use the first ladder and then walk against the wall on the ledge to reach a Legion Magazine on the wooden beam in the center of the shaft.
Take the next ladder down to reach the area below the Opera House.
As you walk out the door at the bottom, a Dimensional Butterfly will appear. This is, however, a trap.
Two rifle puppets will ambush you in this hall. Dodge roll through the door and take them out before destroying the Dimensional Butterfly for one Technique Crank.
Turn around and go down the outside corridor to reach an Electric Blitz Abrasive and a shortcut door back to the Estella Opera House Entrance Stargazer.
How To Finish The Estella Opera House: The King Of Puppets
With the opera house’s main exploration finished, all that waits is to defeat the King of Puppets.
You can find him through the central door chamber and across the beam where a flaming chandelier sways like a pendulum. You’ll have to time your crossing carefully, sprinting across when the chandelier passes.
Inside, the King of Puppets will face you as a two-stage boss: first as a giant mechanical puppet and then as a much faster, humanoid puppet (much like yourself).
This difficult fight will be a major test for the future battles to come, and it will often require multiple attempts. If you’re feeling frustrated with this boss, that is a normal reaction. King of Puppets is hard.
This includes the first official patch of the game which nerfed the total HP of this boss by a substantial margin. Regardless, King of Puppets remains a challenge you should not underestimate.
We recommend the following tips in dealing with him:
- Stay on him in Phase One; let him come to you in Phase Two (Romeo).
- Stay behind him in Phase One; run like hell in Phase Two.
- Run like your life depends on it when he begins charging his wind attack in Phase One.
- Remember the five D’s: Dodge, duck, dive, dip, and dodge. And dodge again. Keep dodging.
- Save all of your throwable items for Phase Two.
- Use strong attacks on Romeo; he’s very weak to staggering.
Your reward will be his ergo (allowing you to use his imposing scythe yourself when traded with Alidoro), a new outfit (the Puppet Prince’s Formal Dress), and Someone’s Necklace.
After the King of Puppets is defeated, you can claim the Stargazer on stage via the wooden plank in the center. But your journey at the Opera House is not quite finished.
Continue backstage to find Geppetto waiting in the area outside. Speak with him, and you’ll be granted access to the next area and another Pulse Cell charge.
We recommend returning to Hotel Krat, finishing any side quests, and specifically speaking to Sophia at this point as your journey delves into something more mysterious and complex.
