With so many layers to the Abyss in Silent Hope, you’ve got your work cut out for you. Each layer features its own unique aesthetic, resources, enemies, and more, leading to plenty of variation throughout. In this guide, we’ve got a few pointers to help you make it through the Abyss.

Updated on October 9, 2023: Now that we’ve made more progress with both our venture into the Abyss and our coverage of Silent Hope, we’ve updated our Abyss guide with information on two more layers: the Burning Wasteland and the Dying Castle.

Forgotten Town

the rogue entering the abyss in forgotten town silent hope

The initial layer of the Abyss, Forgotten Town largely serves as an introductory area for Silent Hope. You learn about basic combat, proceeding through floors, and elemental damage before the boss fight, to give you a solid base.

Everything about the Forgotten Town layer is fairly straightforward and gets you comfortable with trying different fighters to find what works best for you, as well as learning the basics of how the game works.

When you reach the end of Forgotten Town, you’re once again met with the monster from the introduction, Crooked Crab. Though it won’t use specific elements, it does summon smaller versions of itself to make the fight more challenging. It’s weak to blunt damage.

Festival Of Sorrow

After dealing with the entirety of your first layer of the Abyss in Silent Hope, you descend into the Festival of Sorrow, the first time you’ll find additions to the basics that you learned in the last layer.

You’re also introduced to the moles that will be present on the majority of levels from here on out. These moles transport you to different areas of the map, often providing access to new areas or shortcuts between points you’ve already unlocked.

Finally, you’ll find your first locked gates in the Festival of Sorrow. These purple barriers along the path to the next floor prevent you from moving forward until you find the purple, diamond-shaped lock someplace on the current level and strike it to unlock the gate.

Halfway through the Frozen World, you’ll take on Pugil Panda in a mini-boss fight. They’re weak to piercing damage, but they hit pretty hard, so be careful of their swings!

At the end of the Frozen World, you’ll face off against Lady Snowmancer, a powerful ice magic user dealing close-range and ranged attacks while distracting you with false clones of herself.

Burning Wasteland

the paladin waiting by an exploding lava pool in the burning wasteland layer of the abyss silent hope

Now that you’ve gotten used to your environment in the layers of the Abyss trying to mess with you, you’ll be up against something worst – lava erupts from the pathways sometimes, which harms your heroes if they’re standing on it when the eruption happens.

The bright side is that the lava also hurts the monsters in the Burning Wasteland as well, meaning that tactfully luring them over the lava pits at just the right time offers your heroes a chance to use the environment as defense if they’re careful.

You’ll face a mini-boss fight against the Fiend Lord on Floor 11, who summons other monsters to attack you as you try to fight it. Defeat the Fiend Lord to finish all other monsters in battle, too – they don’t stick around once the Fiend Lord is dealt with.

There’s a mini-boss fight against Gecko King on Floor

Get used to the monsters you’re fighting here, because it’s likely you’ll be trekking through the ending few levels of the Dying Castle in Silent Hope several times. You’ve got one hell of a boss fight ahead, but getting there won’t be easy.

There Are Three Levels, Five Monster Rushes, And A Boss Fight Before The Final Boss

When you’re approaching the end of the main storyline of Silent Hope, the final signal fire in the Dying Castle allows you to enter the final fight on level 20. However, as you’ll notice, the Dying Castle is home to 29 total floors.

Ahead of you lies quite a challenge: not only do you have three regular levels of the Dying Castle to navigate (including the signal fire floor), but there are five consecutive Monster Rush floors that span from floors 23 to 27.

These Monster Rushes are each based on a different layer of the Abyss that you’ve cleared. In the first Monster Rush, you’re up against monsters from Forgotten Town, the second one pits you against the ones from the Festival of Sorrow, and so on until you’ve finished all five floors.

the king of malice silent hope boss fight dying castle layer

The challenge comes in that you can’t leave or heal, or the challenge is over. Not only are the Monster Rushes a challenge in and of themselves, but you also have a sub-boss fight before fighting The King.

Mecha Sergeant And The King Of Malice

Just when you think you’re reaching the end of Silent Hope, you find yourself against an unexpectedly tough sub-boss in Mecha Sergeant, but you’ll need to get through this frustrating battle before heading into the final fight.

He hits hard and fast, so patience is a virtue in this battle. Mecha Sergeant moves quickly, so bring someone nimble into the fight.

Finally, once he goes down, you’re onto the final boss, the King of Malice. He fights using dark magic damage and has quite a range of attacks.

The most pivotal thing is that you attack the crystals he attaches himself to after taking some damage – taking them out stuns him, opening him up for heavy attacks that’ll end the fight with ease.
