A number of swords are available for Basim to use in Assassin’s Creed: Mirage and each has slightly different abilities. Basim will not rely on weapons as heavily as some other Assassin’s Creed protagonists, but he will need them occasionally and it is important to find a versatile sword for unexpected combat situations.
Basim can equip swords and daggers, using them together to attack and dodge enemies. Along with his outfit, Basim’s weapons impact his combat style when forced to fight openly so choose wisely.
10 Demon Claw
Stats: Damage 65 / Defense Damage 65
The Demon Claw sword can be purchased from the Animus store for $14.99. Its Burning Blade ability sets the sword on fire when attacking burning enemies, causing the weapon to deal fire damage for 15 seconds. The Demon Claw pairs well with the Demon Fang dagger from the store, which has a similar ability that ignites enemies on every third hit.
While visually appealing, the fire damage has limited relevance in combat. You must hit enemies with the dagger to ignite them, which is impossible against armored guards. Alternatively, you can use firebombs or other tools to set enemies on fire before attacking them with the sword. Ultimately, the Burning Blade perk has few practical uses, making the Demon Claw less effective than other sword options.
9 Jinn Sword
Stats: Damage 78 / Defense Damage 46
The Jinn Sword is available in the Animus store for $9.99. Its Weakness ability deals 50 percent extra damage to enemies afflicted with debuffs, such as poison, fire, or stun. However, applying afflictions without killing enemies outright is uncommon, especially on higher difficulties, limiting its usefulness.
To activate the Weakness perk, you must go out of your way to inflict debuffs on enemies using tools like firebombs, poison darts, or stun traps. While the Jinn Sword can reach higher base damage than the Lightning Sword, its conditional perk is less reliable in practice. Given the niche nature of Weakness, the Jinn Sword may need to provide better value for its asking price compared to more effective options, such as the Demon Claw or the Rostam Sword.
8 Sand Sword
Stats: Damage 72 / Defense Damage 59
The Sand Sword comes free with the Deluxe Edition of Assassin’s Creed: Mirage or can be purchased separately for $9.99. Its Healing Sand ability regenerates 20 percent of health when killing enemies during the time slowdown. This can provide a feasible source of health regeneration in dangerous combat situations where Basim’s health is low after a failed assassination or pickpocketing attempt.
While the Sand Sword has balanced offensive stats, other weapons generally outclass it in damage potential. Given the niche utility of Healing Sand and gear requirements, the Sand Sword is less practical for most play styles than higher-tier options.
7 Lightning Sword
Stats: Damage 65 / Defense Damage 65
The Lightning Sword is available in the Animus store for $4.99. Its Thunderstruck ability deals 50 lightning damage to four nearby enemies every third attack. This allows for damaging multiple enemies, not just the target struck.
However, it’s best to disengage and reduce notoriety if surrounded by more than four enemies. While Thunderstruck provides the highest raw damage output, having to pay for one is the reason we put the sword lower on the list. It can be a powerful option if bought from the store but is not accessible to all players initially.
6 Abbasid Knight Sword
Stats: Damage 65 / Defense Damage 65
The Abbasid Knight Sword deals 30 percent extra damage when Basim’s health drops below 50 percent. However, open combat is a less common sight than stealth in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, since the game’s mechanics prefer stealth anyway. Basim rarely reaches such low health in fights, limiting the ability’s usefulness.
With Basim’s vulnerability in combat, a weapon requiring low health is risky since he can die quickly. While the 30 percent damage bonus is substantial, other swords fulfill the role better. Given the game’s stealth focus and Basim’s vulnerability, using other swords for combat is recommended.
5 Hidden One Sword
Stats: Damage 46 / Defense Damage 78
The Hidden One Sword is a bonus weapon that can be obtained early in the game, after the prologue and Basim arrives in Baghdad. It is found in a Gear Chest in Wilderness West, behind a locked door that requires solving a puzzle and defeating some guards. Its Venomous ability poisons enemies every fifth hit. However, most enemies die within two to three hits, rendering the buff useless.
While poison deals excellent damage over time, the fact that the Venomous buff only activates every fifth hit reduces its reliability compared to other options. However, against durable armored enemies where landing multiple hits is feasible, the poison can effectively chip away at their health after activation. In certain fights, the Hidden One Sword’s poison effect can help significantly in combat.
4 Initiate of Alamut Sword
Stats: Damage 65 / Defense Damage 65
The Initiate of Alamut Sword is Basim’s starting weapon, offering balanced offense and defense. Its Sharpened Blade Ability boosts the next attack’s damage by 50 percent after a successful parry. This activates reliably with most hits, providing a significant damage spike. However, it is ineffective against armored enemies with unblockable attacks, such as the Shakiriyya, a group of elite assassins that are immune to stealth attacks and have high health and defense.
While strong in general combat, this limitation against specific fights prevents the Initiate of Alamut Sword from being top-tier. But for early-to-mid games, it remains an excellent choice that outclasses many drops due to the consistent use of the Sharpened Blade ability after parries.
3 Rostam Sword
Stats: Damage 78 / Defense Damage 46
The Rostam Sword is acquired by completing the Arms Dealer contract in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Its Chain Reaction ability grants five percent increased damage per consecutive attack, up to 50 percent maximum. The buff starts immediately without needing secondary activation conditions.
Obtainable relatively easily without actual money, the Rostam Sword is an excellent all-around pick for those favoring light attacks. Maintaining constant aggression provides significant damage spikes. However, most enemies will die before reaching the 50 percent damage bonus. While the buff carries between targets, quick consecutive strikes are still needed to sustain it. Still, it is a solid jack-of-all-trades sword accessible to most players.
2 Zanj Uprising Sword
Stats: Damage 78 / Defense Damage 46
The Zanj Uprising Sword provides a 50 percent damage buff after a perfect dodge, with one key difference from the Initiate of Alamut Sword. Since the buff activates from dodges, it works against unblockable attacks, too. This addresses the main limitation of the Initiate of Alamut Sword. Dodging is the safest defense, so triggering the damage buff should be relatively easy.
However, the game is inconsistent in recognizing “perfect dodges,” so sometimes the damage bonus activates immediately, and other times it seems absent. Despite this inconsistency, the Zanj Uprising Sword is still one of the best in the game.
1 Shamshir-e Zomorrodnegar
Stats: Damage 46 / Defense Damage 78
The Shamshir-e Zomorrodnegar is unlocked in the Chamber quest by collecting Mysterious Shards. Its Blood Price ability boosts damage by 50 percent at the cost of reduced max health. The health penalty is minor since combat is triggered less often, while the damage bonus excels at quickly eliminating enemies.
It pairs exceptionally well with the Samsaama Dagger’s healing ability to offset the health penalty. By increasing attack power, the Shamshir-e Zomorrodnegar enables incredible offense. Combined with the Samsaama Dagger, the Shamshir-e Zomorrodnegar’s power and sustainability make it the best sword for quickly and aggressively defeating enemies.
