Basketballer Liz Cambage friendship with Bianca Censori, Kanye West grows as they party at Miami album party

The bizarre world inhabited by Kanye West and his Australian wife Bianca Censori has a new resident, Aussie basketballer Liz Cambage.

West and his wife have regularly been making headlines in recent months, with their fashion choices in particular drawing attention whenever they venture out of home or attend events.

Censori’s outfits have been splashed all over entertainment and gossip pages, including a sheer red body suit earlier this year and an extremely revealing metal swimsuit the architect covered up with a toy fluffy cat.

It came to light earlier this year that Censori and Cambage had become friends, the Australians seen partying together in Los Angeles on various social media posts.

The 32-year-old Cambage does seem to have some time on her hands as it’s been a while since she was seen on a basketball court.

After parting ways with WNBA side LA Sparks in acrimonious circumstances during the 2022 season, Cambage signed with Maccabi Bnot Ashdod in Israel in March this year and then announced in November an apparent $1 million deal to play in China.

She was in Florida this past week and in a sign of how close the polarising Cambage seemingly has become with the West family, the centre was playing bodyguard of sorts with Kanye’s kids at an album party in Miami.

West received enormous backlash for wearing a black hood similar to those associated with the Ku Klux Klan to his Vultures album listening party.

Cambage was photographed at the event holding the hand of Kanye’s daughter North, who he shares with ex-wife Kim Kardashian.

The 206cm Cambage is seen helping Censori, North and her younger siblings Chicago and Saint through a crowd at the Art Basel art fair.

A shared love of fashion is understood to be behind the friendship between Cambage and Censori, while the basketballer has also been credited with helping West’s children learn to play her chosen sport.

Cambage has made almost as many headlines of late away from the court as on it, including deleting virtually her entire basketball history from her Instagram account last month.

Cambage infamously quit the Australian national team, although it’s unlikely she would have been picked again regardless, after an explosive pre-Tokyo Olympics scrimmage against Nigeria.

She also flagged a baffling desire to switch to the Nigeria national team, the country her father is from, but the Nigerian federation quickly distanced itself from the divisive Aussie.

Joining the ranks of celebrities linking up with adult website OnlyFans this year, Cambage told The Herald Sun about her excitement to join the Sichuan women’s team based in Chengdu.

“I have always loved my time in China and I am really looking forward to getting out onto the court again,” she said.

“It’s one of the strongest leagues in the world and I have played many seasons there over the years.

“Some of the best players in the world play in the league and it will be great to meet my teammates and the whole support team very soon.

“They have a great successful culture of embracing and backing everyone which is why they have been so successful as a club.”

The China women’s league is currently being played, but it is unclear when Cambage will link up with her new team.
