Destiny 2: Season Of The Wish – The Coil Activity Guide

Uncover powerful Dragon’s Gifts, hidden chests, and more in Season of the Wish’s difficult roguelite mode.

These Starcats are similar to the Dreaming City cat statues, but you don’t need any specific items to interact with the Starcats. Simply find them, interact with them, and you’ll receive a weapon. Collecting all 14 Starcats is required to earn the Wishbearer title and complete various Triumphs, so completionists will want to find every Starcat before the season ends. Read on to see their exact spawn locations.

Updated January 2, 2024, by Charles Burgar: Three Starcat locations have been added this week in Destiny 2, one for each of the Dreaming City’s hidden external regions. We’ve updated this guide to include all three new Starcat locations, complete with image galleries and map references to make finding each cat as easy as possible.

Starcat spawns are currently time-gated. You can currently find 13 Starcats. We’ll update this guide as additional Starcats become available.

Garden Of Plenty Starcat Location

  • Location: Riven’s Lair or The Coil.

The Garden of Plenty is a tileset that can appear in Riven’s Lair and The Coil. This tile typically spawns while fighting Vex. The first story mission of this season, “Polysemy,” is guaranteed to spawn this tile.

Once in the Garden of Plenty, head to the base of the stairs and turn left. Walk towards the cliffside to find the cat overlooking the chasm below.

Blind Well Starcat Location

  • Location: Dreaming City (Blind Well)

You can boot up the Blind Well activity from the Dreaming City map. Once loaded, head to the massive locked door at the opposite end of the entrance. It’ll be up a set of stairs. You’ll find the cat sitting directly in front of the door.

Temple Of The Queen’s Wrath Starcat Location

  • Location: Riven’s Lair or The Coil.

The Temple of the Queen’s Wrath is a tileset that can spawn during a Riven’s Lair or Coil run. This tile typically spawns when fighting Taken. The “Tautology” seasonal mission will always spawn this tile.

Assuming the statue is north, head to the southeast corner of the temple. You’ll find the Starcat in a nook that’s right behind a large pillar.

This Starcat may be found in the Chamber of Starlight Lost Sector, located in Rheasilvia. Make your way to the upper floor and look for a rectangular table. It’ll be next to the Taken Wizard boss. Walk up to the table to find the cat.

Bay Of Drowned Wishes Starcat Location

  • Location: Divalian Mists (Lost Sector)

Head to the Bay of Drowned Wishes Lost Sector in the Divalian Mists to locate this next Starcat. You’ll find this cat next to the Lost Sector chest. It will be hiding next to an explosive Servitor core to the right of the chest.

Aphelion’s Rest Starcat Location

  • Location: The Strand (Lost Sector)

Make your way to The Strand and enter the Aphelion’s Rest Lost Sector. This Starcat is located inside a bowl that’s right above the Lost Sector chest. Clear out the Lost Sector, open the chest, and then climb up the platform behind it. The cat will be hiding in a shallow bowl.

Gnashing Chamber Starcat Location

  • Location: Riven’s Lair or The Coil

The Gnashing Chamber can spawn in any Riven’s Lair and Coil run. If you’re completing the seasonal questline, the “Enthymeme” mission will always spawn this tile. The Gnashing Chamber typically spawns when fighting Scorn.

Reaver’s Orison Starcat Location

  • Location: Riven’s Lair or The Coil

Reaver’s Orison is a tweaked variant of Morgeth’s arena from the Last Wish raid. It can randomly spawn in any Riven’s Lair and Coil run. This tile typically spawns while fighting Vex. Reaver’s Orison will always spawn during the “Apophasis” seasonal story mission.

Once you reach this particular encounter, head to the dead tree on the right side. The Starcat will be resting near the base of the tree.

Cell Of The Sycophant Starcat Location

  • Location: Riven’s Lair or The Coil

As of writing, this Starcat is bugged and will not spawn.

Cell of the Cycophant is a potential encounter in the Riven’s Lair and Coil activities. This tile typically spawns while fighting Taken. Currently, no seasonal story mission has a guaranteed spawn rate for this tile.

The Starcat is currently bugged and doesn’t spawn, but the in-game Triumph description states that it spawns near shrubbery. Judging by the room’s layout, this cat is likely meant to spawn in the southwest corner of the room, hiding atop a grassy platform beside a small tree.

Spine Of Keres Starcat Location

  • Location: Queen’s Oracle (Spine Of Keres Tower)

This Starcat is keeping an Awoken Techeun company in the Spine of Keres, a location that’s west of the Divalian Mists. Head to the Queen’s Oracle and look for a nearby Techeun. She’ll be on a platform overlooking the floating construct. The Starcat will be sitting on a nearby bench.

Harbinger’s Seclude Starcat Location

  • Location: Muninn’s Skull (Bottom Floor)

You can reach Harbinger’s Seclude from Rheasilvia. Head to the structure on the northern end of the patrol space and head inside. Head to the end of Harbinger’s Seclude and jump down the elevator shaft to reach the bottom floor.

The next room will be a circular chamber that leads to multiple Ahamkara skulls. You will need to visit Muninn, the skull in the left chamber. Look behind the offering table to find the Starcat.

The Confluence Starcat Location

  • Location: Shattered Throne Entrance

If you played during Forsaken, this Starcat is located where the Shattered Throne entrance used to be. In the Dreaming City, you must look for a Taken portal to reach The Confluence. There are three locations this portal can spawn at:

  • Gardens of Esila – Found on the upper floor of the region inside a circular gazebo.
  • Spine of Keres –When you’re walking on the bridge that leads to the Queen’s Oracle, look to your right instead. You should see a rock pathway on the cliffside below you can land on. Jump down and run into the nearby tunnel to find the portal.
  • Harbinger’s Seclude – Inside the cavernous temple room, run to the open side of the room that overlooks the shoreline. Look down and towards the cliff on your right. You should see a place you can jump down to. Once you’re down there, run into the nearby tunnel to find the portal.
    • Showcased in the image gallery above.

Once you’ve entered the portal, you should arrive at The Confluence. You’re looking for a twisted version of the Blind Well room that’s covered in branches. Head to the portal frame at the opposite end of the room to find the Starcat.

Gardens Of Esila Starcat Location

  • Location: Under a Bridge (Northwest Corner)

The Gardens of Esila can be found south of The Strand. When you arrive, you’ll want to follow the path towards the central gazebo-like structure that wraps around the garden. When you reach the northwest corner of the route, you’ll come across a white bridge. Look under the bridge to find the Starcat.
