While you may be used to ignoring Winter farming activities in many farming games, you’ll want to grow at least one of the available crops if you like to complete islanders’ errand requests. One of the available Winter crops is a popular item, so you’ll want enough for all year.

Only three crops are available to purchase during Winter: Snowdrop seeds, tea seeds, and cotton seeds. If you want to complete the altars at the Lake Temple, you’ll need each of these crops.

You’ll need osmium quality crops of each of these Winter crops, and an additional snowdrop of any quality.

You won’t have access to any of these crops until you are town rank C, so if you’re not there yet, you won’t be able to grow any of these traditional crops. Luckily there are other things you can do to keep busy during the Winter.

The best crop to grow in Winter to make money is Cotton, and you can sell it as it is, or use a loom to produce Cotton Fabric, which sells for more. You’ll only need one piece of Cotton to make one Fabric, which you can then sell for 230 coral coins.

Turning your cotton into cotton fabric will greatly increase your earnings, and only takes a couple of days to process. If you’re looking for more coral coins, this is the best way to go for farming-related tasks in the Winter.

Although cotton is the overall best Winter crop to plant, one of the most-requested crops from the season is tea leaves. You’ll receive requests throughout the year for these, so it’s wise to have enough in stock to last the year.

If you already have the greenhouse unlocked, and you have some seeds saved, you can grow those in your greenhouse. Since fruit trees are trickier to grow though, the greenhouse is a great way to ensure saplings and seedlings survive all year and produce fruit continually.

You can sometimes get seeds from Ben at his van, or during the Winter festival days, and they can be planted in a greenhouse. Otherwise, the Winter crop seeds are usually purchased from Sam’s store.

Since the Winter crops take quite a few days to grow, you’ll have plenty of time to farm and work on other activities, such as cleaning the ocean or trying your hand at ranching.
