Sarah Harris’s emotional tribute to colleague Jesse Baird

Channel 10 star Sarah Harris has made an emotional tribute to her former Studio 10 colleague Jesse Baird, who was allegedly murdered by his ex-boyfriend.

Police are continuing to search for the missing bodies of Baird and his partner Luke Davies after the couple were allegedly killed by former police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon.

On Sunday night, police confirmed a crime scene had been established in the Southern Tablelands, near Marulan.

On Channel 10’s The Project, host Sarah Harris told viewers it had been a “really hard week” for a lot of staff at the network.

“It is hard to talk about Jesse in the past tense because he was more than just a colleague, he was our friend … a little brother,” she told viewers through tears.

She described Baird as an “absolute star” who was “quick on his feet whether it was water skiing or feeding a croc” live on air.

“One of those kids who had a big smile, big talent and even bigger heart,” she said.

Harris lamented that 2024 was supposed to be his year.

She said Baird had a brand new job lined up after Studio 10 fell through and had described Davies, whom he had been dating since January, to his friends as “the one”.

“He was in love,” she said simply.
“Jesse’s family needs to know he spoke about them often and with so much love.”

Harris concluded by saying: “We are all so sorry.”

Earlier today, the network issued a statement on behalf of those who worked with Baird at Studio 10.

“Jesse was so much more than a colleague,” it read. “He was a cherished friend who brightened every day with his positivity, cheeky winks and brilliant smile.”

The statement said colleagues were “completely shattered”.

“Nothing was ever too much trouble. He worked so hard to make his dreams come true. He was up for anything and the life of the party always. It is quite simply impossible to overstatehow much we adored him.”
