Outspoken rock legend Courtney Love has offered withering critiques of Lana Del Rey, Madonna and Taylor Swift in a new interview, declaring the latter “not important.”

Hole frontwoman Love, 59, spoke out in a new interview with The Standard, with the outlet reporting that Love “positively hates the idea” of Taylor Swift.

“Taylor is not important. She might be a safe space for girls, and she’s probably the Madonna of now, but she’s not interesting as an artist,” Love declared.

Speaking of Madonna: She and Love have history, the pair engaging in a very awkward face-off live on MTV back in 1995 (“Courtney Love is in dire need of attention right now,” Madonna memorably announced as Love crashed her interview).

Almost 30 years on, it seems their feud is still going strong.

“I don’t like her and she doesn’t like me,” Love says of Madonna. “I loved [Madonna’s 1985 film] Desperately Seeking Susan, but for the city of New York as much as her.”

Most confusing is Love’s brutal verdict on Lana Del Rey – an artist she’s frequently gushed about on social media in recent years.

Now, Love thinks the prolific Del Rey – who has released four albums in the past five years – is a little overexposed. Del Rey’s next studio album Lasso is expected later this year, but Love thinks she should delay its release … until 2031.

“I haven’t liked Lana since she covered a John Denver song, and I think she should really take seven years off,” Love said.

“Up until Take Me Home Country Roads, I thought she was great.”

Here’s the confusing bit: The John Denver cover she’s referring to was released by Del Rey on December 1 last year, a little over four months ago. In fact, it’s Del Rey’s most recent single.

Love, who has new solo music on the way, said that she “had to stop listening” to Del Rey’s music when making her new album “as she was influencing me too much.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Love also gave faint praise to Beyonce for her new country-themed album Cowboy Carter, saying: “I like the idea of Beyoncé doing a country record because it’s about Black women going into spaces where previously only white women have been allowed, not that I like it much. As a concept, I love it. I just don’t like her music.’

Love has never held back when voicing her opinion about other celebrities – many of whom are no doubt nervous that her long-gestating memoir, The Girl with the Most Cake, is now reportedly finished and ready for release.

Back in 2021, she called out teen pop-rock star Olivia Rodrigo for allegedly copying the artwork Hole’s classic 1994 album Live Through This, calling the similarity between the two sleeves “rage-inducing” and “rude.”

In 2022, she claimed Brad Pitt had her fired from the movie Fight Club, alleging he had also “kept on stalking (her) for years” in his quest to play her late husband Kurt Cobain in a film.

And one of her more recent targets was the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – Love publicly called out the organisation for “sexist gatekeeping” due to the lack of female artists inducted.
