Fears for three-time premiership winner Josh Gibson’s marriage to Ashley Bright

Three-time Hawthorn winner Josh Gibson and wife Ashley Bright have reportedly split, just over a year after their wedding.

The Herald Sun reported that the couple may have split, citing multiple sources who saw the pair separately looking at properties.

Bright is believed to have bought a new home in Ballarat.

The couple deleted their wedding pictures from their Instagram pages, and Bright made her Instagram page private.

The only picture that remains from that day on their social media pages is a picture of their son Brody in a suit.

Brody was born in 2021 after the couple started dating in 2020.

Gibson then proposed to Bright, a former ballet teacher and radiation therapist, in August 2022.

Gibson and Bright married in March 2023 in a Yarra Valley ceremony and told guests his life was “perfect”.

“I never imagined I would find the love and fulfillment that has come my way since you came into my world,” he said in his wedding speech.

“Being married to you is perfect. Having family by your side is perfect.

“I am so looking forward to the next chapter of our lives.

“I really hope the next chapter we write involves a kid who actually sleeps through the night because we can’t have Brody 2.0.”

Gibson is widely regarded as one of the best defenders of his generation, having played 225 AFL games after being drafted seventh overall by North Melbourne from Port Melbourne in the VFL in 2005 and traded to Hawthorn in 2009.

He holds the record for the most one-percent kicks in AFL history and was known for his dribbling ability and reading ability.

He was also named the Hawks’ best and fairest in 2013 and 2015, both championship-winning seasons, and made the 2015 All-Australian team.

Since retiring, Gibson has appeared on television as a celebrity and bought a gym in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

He played on The famous apprentice in 2021, and was also a competitor at I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Away! in 2018.
