Suspense abounds over Palestinian health resolution at WHO

GENEVA: A long-running resolution urging the World Health Organization to act on the high health needs in the Palestinian territories hung in the balance on Friday after Israel secured an amendment requiring the text to mention hostages held in Gaza. The largely technical text, presented Wednesday by a group of Arab states, including the Palestinians, to the World Health Organization’s top decision-making body was expected to be easily adopted, as similar resolutions have been every year for more than 50 years.
