Dana White unleashes on judge over Paulo Costa vs Sean Strickland scorecard at UFC 302

UFC President Dana White ripped the referee for a highly questionable card during the UFC 302 main event.

Former middleweight champion Sean Strickland raised his hand after a five-round fight against Paul Costa.

While most viewers believed that Strickland did more than enough to secure the unanimous decision win, one judge saw it differently.

As Bruce Buffer read the scoreboards, Strickland was left confused and threw up his hands in anger over one card.

Judge Dave Tirelli scored the fight 49-46 in favor of the Brazilian fighter. His card was in stark contrast to his fellow judges, who had it 49-46 and 50-45 against Strickland.

White didn’t bite his tongue when asked about the obscure review of the results during a news conference report.

“There were some weirdos (who) were fucking crazy, that’s how it was. Crazy,” he said.

“This guy should never referee a big fight again! They should kick him back to the minor leagues and let him work on his trial. This is unbelievable.”

White questioned the sanity of anyone watching the co-main event and scoring the fight in favor of Paulo Costa.

“I mean, how could anyone who isn’t an absolute fucking moron call this fight a split decision. I don’t even know what to say about it, it’s crazy.”

White wasn’t the only one angered by Tirelli’s result, as UFC fans erupted after the announcement.

MMA writer Aaron Bronsteter wrote, “I can find reason to rationalize most of the scores submitted by the judges, but 49-46 Costa is indefensible.”

MMA writer Mike Bohn wrote: “The 49-46 Costa is a criminal. Holy crap.”

MMA Fighting magazine editor Damon Martin wrote: “He just nailed Paulo Costa and won 49-46. Seriously, get him out of the building.

Scorecard chaos wasn’t the only moment of madness on the night when former US President Donald Trump arrived to sit in the cage.

The convicted felon stole the show at the star-studded event when he walked out in front of more than 15,000 fans at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Just 48 hours earlier, the 77-year-old had been found guilty on all 34 counts in a money laundering trial in New York.

Despite all that, Trump looked more popular than ever as he strolled in front of screaming fans.

Alongside UFC boss Dana White, Trump shook hands with spectators and posed for photos.

When he reached the cage, he turned around and threw his hands in the air, and the crowd went even wilder.
