UFC 303 press conference postponed ahead of Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler

The UFC made the unprecedented move of canceling the UFC 303 press conference less than 12 hours before it was scheduled to begin.

The event, which was scheduled to take place in Dublin, Ireland, was canceled without a rescheduled date, which was announced in a post that sent social media into a frenzy.

Although admission to the press conference did not require payment, it was a ticketed event, with all allocated tickets snapped up within minutes of the public announcement.

Fans are ready to rush through the gates to catch a glimpse of Conor McGregor ahead of his return fight against Michael Chandler.

“Dear UFC fans, the #UFC303 press conference scheduled for Monday, June 3rd in Dublin, Ireland at the 3Arena has been postponed until further notice,” the UFC announced on X.

“We sincerely apologize to all the fans who planned to attend. As soon as we have more information about the new date and time, we will pass it on. – Thank you.”

UFC 303 is scheduled to take place on June 29 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Speculation about the cancellation quickly spread across social media, with many pointing the finger at McGregor.

The former two-division UFC champion was seen having fun just weeks before his return to the Octagon.

The Irishman shared footage of himself dancing the night away at the event with his 45 million followers on Instagram.

In one of the clips, he could be heard encouraging the players to have a drink of his Proper Twelve whisky.

In another, the UFC icon could be seen dancing in front of his glamorous Forged Irish Stout co-workers – who also looked like they were enjoying the event.

With the cancellation coming days after the social media footage, fans were quick to attribute the UFC’s move to the MMA icon.

Writer Nick Lombardi wrote, “This statement is unlike anything I’ve ever seen in the UFC. I’m speculating that there will be a significant change to the card, especially the McGregor vs. Chandler matchup. This is the only fight that would justify such a reaction.”

One user wrote: “Christ, what has Conor McGregor done now‍️, just a few hours before? Lotta Irish fans are going to wake up pretty pissed off because they thought they were going to go for it.”

Another added: “Conor at it again.”

If all goes according to plan, McGregor’s showdown with Chandler will be his first since breaking his left leg in a trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier almost three years ago.

But he insisted he would have no qualms about throwing his once-crushed shin into the forehead of his rival, the Ultimate Fighter 31 coach.

In a recent interview with James Corden, he said: “I’m the Terminator now.

“I have a titanium rod that goes into the knee and down to the bone, all the way to the ankle.

“He is unbreakable.

“I want and I’m going to work on putting that punch – with that steel rod in the leg – on the opponent and getting him out of there.”

While he did a lot of talking, UFC fans will now be anxiously awaiting the reason for the cancellation just weeks before the main event.
