Iran’s hard-line parliament speaker Mohammad Qalibaf registers as a presidential candidate

DUBAI: Iran’s hardline parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf on Monday filed for the country’s June 28 presidential election. Monday was the last day to register for the competition. Other politicians are rumored to be possible candidates in the vote to replace Ebrahim Raisi, who died on May 19 along with seven others in a helicopter crash.
