Football Australia referees boss heading to England

Football Australia’s refereeing boss Nathan Magill has accepted a job with the Football Association.

Magill, whose role included appointing referees for A-League matches, will leave Football Australia next month after a three-year tenure to start his new job as head of referee development at the Football Association.

“I am forever grateful for the opportunity to lead a department in sports that has been a central part of my life,” Magill said.

“I am proud of what we have achieved together during my time in the last three years. Those were some of the most rewarding times of my career.”

FA Chief Executive James Johnson said: “Nathan has been a cornerstone of our refereeing department, bringing passion, dedication and a wealth of knowledge to his role.

“His efforts have significantly improved the standards of officiating in Australia and his positive impact will be felt for years to come.”

The FA will soon start looking for a replacement for Magill.
