A-League: Ben Halloran signs with Brisbane Roar

Former Socceroos winger Ben Halloran is returning to Brisbane Roar 11 years after leaving the A-League club.

Halloran, 31, signed a multi-year deal with the Roars after being released by Adelaide United when his contract expired at the end of the 2023-24 season.

A member of Australia’s 2014 World Cup squad, Cairns product Halloran made 180 A-League appearances, including 28 for the Roar in the club’s 2012-13 campaign.

He was also a member of Gold Coast United, German clubs Fortuna Dusseldorf and Heidenheim, Japanese team V-Varen Nagasaki and South Korean team FC Seoul.

The Roar are also set to sign Australian under-23 international Hosine Bility.

Bility has spent the last two seasons with Portuguese second division side Brada, before that he was on the books of Denmark’s Midtjylland, who loaned him to Iceland’s Fram Reykjavik.

Meanwhile, Melbourne Victory are set to strengthen their squad by signing former Newcastle Jets winger Ren Piscopo and forward Jing Reece, who spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Central Coast Mariners from Danish club Aarhus GF.

The Mariners agreed to a three-year contract with former Jets shortstop Lucas Mauragis on Wednesday.

“I am excited to start this new chapter of my career alongside this outstanding group of players,” Lucas said after joining the A-League champions.

“I hope to push the boundaries, exceed expectations and aim for nothing less than continued excitement and success for the fans.”

Mauragis’ signing comes just after Central Coast retained Brazilian star Mikael Doko for a further three seasons.
