Ripper Roo and N.Gin Are Coming To Crash Team Rumble In Season 1

Crash Team Rumble is set to release later this month, bringing together a bunch of classic Crash Bandicoot characters for a smash. Crash, Coco, and Tawna are all there, including a few villains like Neo Cortex and Dingodile. Well, the evil side of Crash Team Rumble just got a little bigger as it was announced during Summer Game Fest that classic villains Ripper Roo and N.Gin will be added to the game at some point in Season 1.

The addition of these two iconic villains was revealed in a brand new gameplay trailer, giving us another look at the game ahead of its launch next week. Crash Team Rumble Season 1 has been revealed to begin on July 20th when the game launches and will run until September 12th, during which we’ll see Ripper Roo and N.Gin go down at some point as game characters. It’s also been announced that during this time we’ll also be getting some new maps to use, a bunch of new powers to try out, and some limited-time modes to experience.

it’s clear that Toys For Bob wants to start the life of Crash Team Rumble with a bang, although we don’t know exactly when these new features will drop. As with most live service games, you can probably expect them to be spread throughout the season to keep things fresh, and we’ll likely get even more characters announced for future seasons. Who that will be is anyone’s best guess, but many will be hoping that Toys For Bob will bring Spyro out of his cage and let him stretch his wings a bit, even if it’s not part of his game.

To make things even better, it looks like Crash Team Rumble will also be a pretty inclusive game, as the developer recently confirmed that the series’ newest character, Catbat, is non-binary. According to creative director Dan Neil and co-head of the studio Paul Yan, Toys for Bob inspired David Bowie when Catbat was created, and the original character artist’s vision of making Catbat non-binary matched that inspiration.

As for the other big announcements during Summer Game Fest, we finally got a new trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which was revealed to be the first PS5 game to come on two separate discs. We also got an extensive gameplay demo for Mortal Kombat 1, the announcement of a brand new 2D Sonic game called Sonic Superstars, the return of the Prince of Persia series with a new 2D title called Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, and a whole bunch more.

Next: I’m still hoping for a Knights of the Old Republic remake
