Season 27, known as Amped, launches on November 4th and adds a ton of new content to freshen up the Battle Royale experience. Among the changes, Olympus is getting an overhaul with four new points of interest that change the flow of matches and provide more cover for teams. In addition, Double Tap Locked Hop Up gives the alternator a buff, while Mantle Boost helps to do Apex LegendsThe movement is even more dynamic. In addition to all the new content, Respawn announced some big changes to the Legends trio: Valkyrie, Rampart, and Horizon.

Valkyrie's aerial movement is greatly improved

While the Valkyrie airframe made it one of the most popular in Battle Royale after the release of Season 9, it has become less unique in recent years. For example, the performance of Evac Towers in Apex Legends made her ultimate not as valuable for rotation on a given map. The upcoming season aims to fix this by upgrading all of her abilities. Skyward Dive gets her team in the air faster, and the Super Sonic upgrade makes this ability even more evasive. According to Ian Holstead, legend designer, the goal is to make Ultimate “viable in situations that have never been before.”

In addition to a better Skyward Dive, Tier 27 will improve Valkyrie's VTOL Jets. This ability has always offered players a way to relocate and gain high ground, but the slow movement and slow cooldown limited its effectiveness. The new season will address both of these issues, increasing the speed of the Passive and its recharge rate. A more nimble jetpack could make the Legend a more unpredictable target and offer more gameplay potential. Additionally, her Missile Swarm comes with some great bonuses, such as scanning enemies that are hit and putting their movement passives on cooldown. Additionally, Tactical no longer deals self-damage and the height restriction has been removed, allowing players to use this ability in more situations.

  • Skyward Dive: Faster take-off time, the Super Sonic upgrade allows players to get airborne even faster.
  • VTOL Jets: Increase speed, charge three times faster, upgrade to reduce fuel consumption and improve horizontal speed.
  • Rocket Swarm: No self damage, height restriction removed, scans enemies on hit and frees movement passive on cooldown.

Rampart's Amped Cover keeps getting more versatile

While Rampart could previously be dangerous in certain situations, Respawn is trying to make it “less static and more dynamic” on the battlefield. Amped Cover is now getting some major changes. In addition to improved wall health with Evo upgrades, Tactical will offer players a speed boost. This could help teams take advantage of the opportunity to close the gap and finish the fight. Amped Cover will also have a roof that provides additional protection against the growing number of legendaries with vertical movement abilities.

Rampart also gets new buffs that further improve her Amped Cover. According to Respawn, they'll give players infinite ammo and fast reloads when using its barriers, making it easier to punish poorly positioned opponents. Additionally, one upgrade will allow regeneration of wall health. While Sheila will continue to play a role in being effective as Rampart Apex LegendsThese new upgrades and other changes to her tactics should help teammates contribute during combat.

Amped cover: Walls gain health with increasing Evo level, increase speed, and now include a roof. Upgrades add fast reload and infinite ammo when shooting behind a wall and regenerate health outside of combat.

Horizon's Gravity Lift is getting some big fans

The Horizon is also increasingly deadly in the air, as is the Valkyrie. Respawn is moving back closer to the power level it originally had. The seasonal update will improve her Gravity Lift by reducing the cooldown and allowing players to gain height faster when using it. After her release in Season 7, the character became infamous for her verticality. Various Horizon nerfs Apex Legends since then they have reined in her effectiveness and reduced her numbers. The developers believe that season 27 will find a good balance for Horizon by giving her back some of that lost power.

In addition to improving Horizon's basic tactical ability, Black Hole Ultimate will have increased health, making it more effective to initiate combat. One upgrade will also give Horizon the ability to fall quickly while crouching in mid-air, while another will allow the character to gain an extra gravity charge when knocking down opponents. This allows the character to potentially function much like other Skirmisher class legendaries in the past; the Charged Knock perk previously granted players an ability charge after getting knocked down. If this upgrade is used correctly, Horizon could provide an opportunity to use a few gravity lifts to relocate in a late game skirmish.

Black hole: Increased health

Gravity lift: Shorter cooldown, buff to pick up speed, buff to bonus tactical charge on knockdowns.

Movement Upgrades: Quick fall by crouching in mid-air, gliding outside gravity lifts
