The great Arc Raiders progression wipe is only ten days away and players are still not sure if they should continue with the voluntary progression wipe. Dubbed the Expedition Project, this system is like any other progressive multiplayer set, but with a bit of a story. Its main purpose is to appeal to those who want progressive wipes and those who don't.
Players will lose weapons, items, levels, skills, and crafting abilities in exchange for permanent account unlocks and unique cosmetics for each quest completed. Those who choose to go on expeditions will also receive “account buffs” for the duration, but the developers have ensured that this does not give them an advantage over others. However, players feel that this is not enough information to help them decide whether to wipe their progress or not.
Should you decide to wipe your progress in Arc Raiders?
A number of players have debated whether erasing progress is worth it. While Embark Studios has roughly revealed what happens if you choose to erase your progress, it's not nearly as detailed as they'd like. Many people worry that they may make the wrong decision. I don't blame you if you're not sure, it took me a long time to build up my loot.
Arc Raiders should have at least been nominated for this GOTY category
The sound design of Arc Raiders is fantastic and it's a real shame it wasn't recognized at this year's gaming awards.
“Really? We're 10 days away from wipeout and there's been complete radio silence since Embark,” says a Reddit post by Flumingo1990. “We still have no information on the size of the stash boost, the item requirements for the 5 skill point reward, or the mechanics behind the 'increased repair efficiency'.
Here are the incentives that Embark currently has in place for clearing progress:
-
A permanent account is unlocked for each completed expedition
-
Unique cosmetic rewards for each completed Expedition
-
Accounting “buffs” that apply for the duration of the next expedition cycle
-
And the sequential completion of the Expedition project increases the size of these enthusiasts to the limit.
We still have no idea what “buffs” are. Hopefully, the developers will clarify the decision soon with more information about them and the Expedition project.
