Some ARC Raiders players are calling on Embark to fix issues with small lips and ledges that can't be climbed while down but not out (DBNO) after clips of players trying to get in Raider Hatches while shooting down went viral. as it stands ARC Raiders it technically allows players to extract while in a DBNO state, but for many players this is easier said than done.
As a PvPvE extraction shooter, the core part ARC RaidersThe game is extracted without getting killed to keep any loot found during the match. DBNO status gives ARC Raiders players a small buffer after their health is depleted before they are officially considered dead and lose their inventory. During this period, players can try to crawl to the extraction point and successfully escape with their loot, but their movement is slow and their health will continue to decrease, at which point they will be officially dead.
Reddit user Nevborn980 posted a clip of his character attempting to use the Raider Hatch while being shot down on ARC Raiders subreddit that received a lot of attention as other players quickly chimed in with their own similar experiences. One commenter noted that “it's not just the hatches, there's a lot of terrain that should be easy to walk, but for some reason you just slip or walk in place”, while another shared the same opinion, saying that “this game has a slippery surface problem”.
Raider Hatches are intended as a way for players to quickly escape back to the safety of Speranza in case things get out of hand while they're up there, provided they have a Raider Hatch key handy. Being in a DBNO state seems like an ideal opportunity to use one of these hatches, provided the player reaches it before its exhausting state expires. Unfortunately, using these hatches when shot down seems to be a lot more complicated than it would normally be, which kind of defeats their purpose.
This game has a slippery surface problem.
Although ARC Raiders patch 1.2.0 increased the extent to which players can interact with them, it seems that the issue was not completely resolved. As another Redditor, user Druidik, details in a separate post, it's possible to access Raider Hatches while shot down, and the update makes it easier. However, players still need to hit the ledge of the hatch at the right angle to reach it.
This seems like a step in the right direction, but in the end it's still too much punishment for downed raiders when the Raider Hatch mechanic seems to have been designed to be used in this type of situation. Hopefully the “slippery surface” issue will continue to be addressed ARC Raiders getting more updates.
