I can tell you exactly when I last enjoyed a shooter as much as I am enjoying it right now Arc Raiderand it was Fate 2 during what I, and probably many others, consider her heyday. Cumulatively I put about 3000 hours into it Fate 2 across platforms, though I've seriously missed the time I've logged over the past year – and I know I'm not alone. Still, Fate 2 is one of those games that I keep coming back to, whether it's because a new expansion just dropped or I just want to reminisce about the glory days for a while.
But for now I'm connected Arc Raiderand I just can't get enough of it. I know I'm not alone in this either, because it feels like the whole world is playing the Embark extraction shooter phenomenon. To be fair, it has everything. From the movement to the loot to the way an encounter can turn into absolute chaos in seconds, it just hits every note I want right now. That being said, there is one thing that I and others I know feel Arc Raider missing — a Fate 2 he just has a plan for it.
Arc Raiders' Speranza should take a note from Destiny 2's tower
While raiding with my clan, striking with friends and randoms, and finding my place in the Crucible were unforgettable experiences, I can trace some of my favorite moments to Fate 2 for the time I spent in the tower. There I learned that I was not alone in my journey – that there were countless other Guardians trying to make a difference. The sound of vendors like Tess Everis welcoming Rangers to the Eververse store and Master Rahool spouting Engram jargon filled the airwaves, and when I wasn't trading with one of them, I was acting out stupid emotes with a bunch of strangers I'd never met. Fate 2's Tower is where the game slowed down for me and to this day I even listen to the music and sounds of the Tower sometimes to calm my nerves.
Well, now I want to bring that same feeling to my latest obsession, Arc Raiderbut at the moment there is nowhere like a tower to put my feet up for a while. Back in Speranza, I can hear life going on all around me, its inhabitants engaging in conversation with each other, the intercom occasionally ringing with somewhat humorous announcements, and the distant sound of screeching and clanging reminding me that there is still work to be done. But hearing it and even seeing it is still second hand immersion and I can't help but feel it was more Speranza Fate 2's Tower, every break between rounds would make me feel like I was part of a larger community. Speranza could be so much more — a social hub where all raiders exist without conflict and vendors and other NPCs are much more than just offers.
I know this is a sentiment I share with a significant portion Arc Raider', as I've seen a lot of players commenting how they wish Speranza felt more like a real city to get lost in. For example, a recent Reddit post by wealllovetacosornaw highlights this very point. “May we make a run for all the merchants, your home, the bar and the launch pad,” they say, and I couldn't agree more. Looking at the comments below, there are plenty of fans who are “happy with the way it is” or simply prefer “quick menus” that Arc Raider currently has. However, even these comments are muted by many others who agree with the OP.
Maybe it wouldn't be a good idea to turn Speranza into a social center Arc Raiderconsidering the inventory management that is already required and the extra steps that traveling from vendor to vendor would add to the experience. It's still one of my favorite things Arc Raider is its undeniable immersion and makes Speranza more relatable Fate 2's Tower would just make it more immersive. Because Embark has already shown its commitment to giving players what they want by adding a new Duos mode Arc Raiderif enough players demanded a social hub, it could eventually happen. But if opinions continue to be divided on it, it may never happen. I for one will hold out hope regardless.
