ARC Raiders has been a huge success for Embark Studios, and the company is looking to capitalize on the unique play styles of its massive player base by asking for feedback on the current in-game maps. I've only been out 6 weeks so far, ARC Raiders left a big impression on players, including many who might not be too keen on the extraction genre the game currently occupies. For many live service titles, player feedback is a critical part, and now Embark wants to hear from its players.
Although ARC Raiders was only available for a short time, Embark continued to update the game with new content and fixes for various issues. In just the second week of the game, Embark launched a huge community donation drive ARC Raiderswhere players could donate common materials to eventually help unlock the new Stella Montis map, which proved to be quite different from the other maps in the game, largely due to being indoors and a haven for PvP combat.
ARC Raiders just confirmed when its next big update is coming and I think it could be a game changer
ARC Raiders' Cold Snap update brings new weather, content, and progression options that could change the way players approach the first expedition.
ARC Raiders wants to hear from you!
In a new post, Embark Studios put out a call to action for their community, asking for feedback and general opinions on what they think of the game as a whole. Players can participate in exploration centered around maps in ARC Raiders and how often players engage in specific playstyles such as sneaking, engaging in PvP, focusing purely on loot, trying to be social, or ambushing unsuspecting players.
For many players, this is also an opportunity to give Embark their opinion on each of the maps in the game. Players will be able to rate and provide opinions on each of the currently available maps, whether they like it, are neutral, or don't like it. Embark hopes this data will help the company shape future content and design based on feedback from its community. Interestingly, some players are reporting that the survey suddenly ends prematurely with a “maximum number of responses” message. At the time of publication, Embark had not yet commented on the potential issue.
However, there are a few things to keep in mind before attempting this survey. In order to participate, Embark suggests that players will need to play all the maps in the game so far, including the newest one in Stella Montis. Players will also need to log in with their Embark ID, which not only makes the survey specific to them, but also means the system will know if the player attempting the survey has qualified by completing the requirements.
ARC Raiders had a longer development cycle than expected, originally only revealed in 2021 as a co-op shooter where players work together to overcome enemy machines called arcs. After Embark struggled to basically find fun on a consistent basis, the game was rebooted to become a PvPvE extraction shooter, with many elements of the earlier build converted to fit the current style. An ARC Raiders a series of behind-the-scenes videos provided a little more context behind some of the decisions made during the game's long development.
Part of this transition process surrounded the game's maps. The Spaceport and Dam Battlegrounds were two locations that existed and were created earlier for the original vision ARC Raiderstherefore, they may look and play a little differently than other maps. The newer maps, specifically Blue Gate, Buried City, and Stella Montis, were created after the big game changed to an extraction shooter, which is why many consider them to be slightly more PvP friendly maps.
