Assassin's Creed Hexe has just lost its creative director

Ubisoft confirmed that Clint Hocking, creative director Assassin's Creed Codename Hexleft the company. Development Assassin's Creed Hex will continue under the leadership of one of the newly appointed members Assassin's Creed leading team.

Canadian video game industry veteran Clint Hocking began his career at Ubisoft in the early 2000s, writing the script and working as a game designer on the original. Splinter Cell. Hocking was then given the opportunity to become lead level designer, script writer and creative director Splinter Cell: Chaos Theoryan experience that Hocking previously said “gave [him] brain damage” due to long hours. Hocking remained at Ubisoft Montreal to direct Far Cry 2but left the company in May 2010. For the next five years, Hocking would work at LucasArts, Valve, and Amazon Game Studios, although the projects he worked on at all three studios were never released. Hocking returned to Ubisoft to direct Watch Dogs Legion.

February 25, 2026 Ubisoft officially announced that Clint Hocking has left Ubisoft again, this time in the middle of development Assassin's Creed Codename Hexwhich Hocking directed. In a statement provided to IGN, a Ubisoft spokesperson said that Hocking is “leaving Ubisoft” and that “we sincerely thank him for his vision, creative contributions and dedication over the years and wish him the best in his next chapter.”

Clint Hocking's departure from Ubisoft comes just two days after Ubisoft announced a brand new leadership team for the Assassin's Creed franchise. On February 23, it was revealed that longtime Ubisoft veterans Martin Schelling, Jean Guesdon, and François De Billy would join Andrée-Anne Boisvert and Lionel Hiller to form a new Assassin's Creed leading team. Each team member has a dedicated role such as “brand lead”, “content lead” and “production excellence lead”. As part of their extensive history with Ubisoft, Schelling, Guesdon and De Billy have worked on some of the most acclaimed entries in Assassin's Creed history, incl Assassin's Creed Black Flag and Assassin's Creed Origins.

VGC was the first to report Clint Hocking's departure from Ubisoft, and the site claims the news was first shared with Ubisoft employees at an internal meeting held by the new Assassin's Creed leading team. In statements provided to both IGN and VGC, Ubisoft confirms that development is ongoing Assassin's Creed Codename Hex will continue after Hocking's departure from the company, with Jean Guesdon taking over as creative director. Guesdon is Assassin's Creed the franchise's new head of content, whose previous credits include creative director work on both Assassin's Creed Black Flag and Origins. Guesdon's first credited role at Ubisoft was as a game designer Assassin's Creed 2.
