Baldur's gate 3 is such a massive story, with so many possibilities and winding paths that some inconsistencies have always been inevitable. Fortunately, we have a huge amount of tradition, through the Baldur gate and dungeons and dragons, which helps us try to explain some of the inconsistencies and keep us on our merry journey.

It's not the most convincing demon.
One such inconsistency that fans have recently noticed can be found in shadow land and is specifically tied to the poor “patient” under “care” of Malus Thorm in the recovery house. The Reddit user called Cosmic_Meditator777 pointed out that it is only theoretically impossible for Thorm's patient to survive so deep into Shadowlands, what with the whole shadow curse.
We know that stepping in Miasma will kill you quite quickly if you are not surrounded by light or have a blessing Selune or pixie. When you find that Thorm's patient in the house of healing is strapped to the table, potentially cut eyeballs and tongue, and seemingly blessed. So how is he alive at all?
Baldur's Gate 3 fans are trying to figure out how Thorm's patient survived Shadowlands
In response to Cosmic_Meditator777, this is exactly what Baldur's Gate 3 fans are trying to figure it out. The user entitled Beneficial-Break1932 counts on the work of Lady Shar because he thinks that because Thorm is a practicing Sharran, she allowed this one poor guy deep into Shadowlands for research purposes. Also, you do not see the guy again if you free him, which means he will probably die as soon as he leaves the house of healing.
Another user named Minieshoof thinks that this poor man may be someone who has lived in the shadow land since the curse appeared, and that he built a semi -creation on his effects, allowing him to survive longer. I think he obviously fails well when you find it, so maybe it has an effect?
Isaacslaughing thinks that the patient was actually Harper or a scout fist who was caught by Thorm and then accompanied the house of recovery. Notquitesolide implies that it explains that shadows are truly living beings, and because Thorm already has this poor guy, then he knew he would stay. We will never have a confirmed answer, but when these types of questions are asked, I always go to my default settings – the wizard did it.
