2024 marks the 85th anniversary of Batman's first comic book appearance, and DC is doing everything imaginable to celebrate. Even though we are now in the final months of the year, these celebrations are not over yet. Adding to all that DC has already done to celebrate Batman's 85th birthday today is a brand new Funko Pop that features one of the most unique designs yet for a Dark Knight Pop. inspired by Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins.
Before Christian Bale's Batman faced off against Heath Ledger's Joker in The Dark Knight, the Caped Crusader had to deal with the Scarecrow. Whether in movies, games, or comics, Scarecrow's primary tool when it comes to making Batman's life a misery is his fear toxin. The way Batman appeared in Batman Begins under the influence of this toxin is one of the scariest designs the hero has ever had, and now that look has been turned into a Funko Pop.
It wasn't Batman who saw himself like this in Batman Begins when he was exposed to the toxin, but Dr. Jonathan Crane, whose perception of Batman was warped when he was sprayed with the very same fear gas he was selling. Seeing Batman as a black skeleton rather than a man in a black suit, that terrifying image of the Dark Knight Funko Pop will be available exclusively on the Funko website via the link in the box below from 12:30pm EST today (October 7, 2024).
The scariest Batman ever looked
And it was all a vision in one guy's head, until now
The Fear Gas Batman Funko Pop is $15 and while it's not available for purchase at the time of writing, Funko has already listed it as final sale. This usually means that there is only one wave of stock and once that stock is gone, Pop is gone forever. Of course, there is no guarantee that this is the case, and there is a chance that there will be more batches in the future. However, if you like this Pop and don't want to risk paying an exorbitant price for it later through a resale site, it's probably best to pick it up while it's still available at Funko.
Fear Gas Batman Funko Pop
One of the many things DC has done to celebrate 85 years of Batman, this unique and incredibly creepy Funko Pop is modeled after how the Dark Knight appeared to Jonathan Crane after ingesting some fear toxin from the Scarecrow in Batman Begins.
As mentioned above, many items have been released to celebrate Batman's 85th birthday this year. DC has teamed up with Mattel to create a very special collection of Hot Wheels Batmobiles, each with a small Batman figure, as well as a Little People collectible set to celebrate Batman's 85th anniversary. Several very special Lego sets have also been created, including a brick rendition of the Gotham skyline in Batman The Animated Series and a Lego Batmobile based on its design in the 1960s live-action show.
