Battlefield 6 reveals plans for 2026

Battlefield 6 talked a bit about what players can expect from the game and the gameplay REDSEC battle royale is heading to 2026. The tease doesn't reveal much, but it's still useful in setting player expectations Battlefield 6 next year. Interestingly, the update seems to confirm one of the most significant leaks ahead of Season 2.

Battlefield 6 was a huge success for EA, making a triumphant return by beating annual sales Call of Duty release this time. Battlefield Studios has kept players engaged post-launch with frequent content releases throughout Season 1, which concluded its final content drop with the Winter Offensive chapter on December 9. In an increasingly competitive live services environment, Battlefield 6 struggled to retain players in the months after launch, despite initial success. However, the content itself has been very well received by fans, leading to some hope that 2026 will be bigger and better. Battlefield 6.

Battlefield 6 talks about plans until 2026, but keeps things pretty vague

In an extensive community update to end the year on X, Battlefield Studios gave a little insight into what the development team is currently working on for the year ahead. According to the developer, the priority at the moment is “enhancing the core game, balancing and improving the quality of life”, but it's not all about reworking existing content. It also confirmed that it is developing new ones Battlefield 6 maps and weapons, with the intention of bringing “new tactical opportunities and keeping the experience evolving in a meaningful way”. These maps and weapons are likely preparing for a seasonal content drop throughout 2026. There weren't too many specific details, allowing for a full reveal of its new content when it's ready to launch next year.

The developer also hinted at some big plans for Battlefield Labs. The program was very useful prior to launch as it allowed players to provide feedback on specific gameplay elements in an ever-changing live environment. It was offline after launch, but Battlefield Labs was brought back earlier this month as a way to get feedback on experimental changes without changing live gameplay for most players. In the post, the developer confirms that they want to expand Battlefield Labs next year “by bringing more of his experimentation into the live experience.” What form that will take remains to be seen, but it will be interesting to see if any major gameplay changes come from this approach.

We have great news for you Battlefield REDSEC fans here too. Battlefield Studios revealed that the addition of BR Solos is “still on our minds”. at startup Battlefield REDSEC was bombarded with criticism from fans and one of the main reasons was the lack of Solos. If players didn't have friends to play with, they were forced to play with strangers in Duos or Quads, and not every player wanted to do that. The good news is that the developer is now “working over the technical details to deliver it at a level of quality that's right for Battlefield.” But he declines to share more until there's “confidence in the schedule and timing,” so it'll be worth watching next year.

At the end of the “Looking Ahead to 2026” community update, Battlefield Studios also seemed to confirm one of the biggest Battlefield 6 leaks. He says: “for those who watch the sky… yes, a certain little bird would like to say hello again.” This is apparently a reference to the AH-6 Little Bird helicopter that was leaked Battlefield 6 earlier this year. It's unclear if a Season 2 of the game is planned, but a direct reference from the developer suggests that it's probably not too far away.
