Battlefield 6 is about to change the game and change two of its most controversial cosmetic changes. Complaints and concerns about this cosmetic have been ongoing since late 2025, so Battlefield 6 players who had a problem with them may be pleased to hear about the change.
Battlefield 6 practically exploded onto the gaming scene, debuting as the top game on the US bestseller list and surpassing 10 million copies within a month of its release. While active players have dwindled a bit since then, the game still sees plenty of regular activity, with Steam alone seeing tens of thousands of players playing simultaneously daily. However, not every little thing about the game has been well received, and the upcoming update looks set to change that.
“Preserving the experience” Why Battlefield 6's strangely colored skins are perceived so negatively
Gamers have expressed extreme distaste for the idea of Battlefield 6 having colored skins like Call of Duty, and here's why.
Battlefield 6 is quietly addressing cosmetic issues in the patch notes
Battlefield 6upcoming patch version 1.1.3.6 expected to arrive on February 3rd before season 2 Battlefield 6in the patch notes, he seems to have quietly acknowledged the concerns regarding the two cosmetics in the game and expressed his intention to change them. Among the patch notes, the developer included one bullet that noted that Objective Ace and Winter Warning cosmetics will change with the upcoming update. However, no details were given on exactly how they will be changed, with the bullet only saying that they are being changed to “better match Battlefieldvisual identity.”
Target ace and winter warning fears ended the year of Battlefield 6
While Battlefield 6 is enjoying great success, not everything went smoothly. In December 2025, players began to notice problems with the aforementioned cosmetics and took their complaints online. A winter warning is a Battlefield 6 a player card sticker that raised eyebrows because it looked like it was AI generated. Astute players immediately pointed out how the M4A1 in the picture has two barrels, while the actual weapon and its Battlefield 6 version has only one. The placement of the holder's hands and the overall style also raised suspicions.
Objective Ace, on the other hand, is a Battlefield 6 a mask skin noticed by players due to its strong resemblance to the logo Call of Duty: Ghosts. A side-by-side comparison convinced many players that this couldn't have been a coincidence, pointing out that parts of the mask's design reflected cracks, chips and streaks. Call of Duty: Ghosts' logo. Others wondered if AI was also used in the creation of Objective Ace.
The developers seem to have noticed these concerns and are now taking steps to fix them. Whether the changes to these two items will be considered enough by players remains to be seen when the update arrives in February. However, even the changes may not be enough to satisfy all players. Battlefield 6 reportedly used AI in the “preliminary stages” of its development, but according to Rebecca Coutaz, DICE's VP General Manager, players wouldn't see the AI on any assets or maps. The sticker in particular seems to indicate that this has changed, although the studio has not officially stated that the Winter Warning sticker used AI-generated art.
Despite the concerns of both players and developers, many game studios are pushing the use of AI in development at one stage or another. This has caused a lot of backlash from some players, with a notable recent example being the reaction to Larian Studios' announcement of plans to use artificial intelligence in future games. This ended with Larian deciding to completely phase out concept art production using generative AI. What the future holds for game development technology remains to be seen, but for now it seems that the backlash from players is enough for studios to consider making changes.
