Battlefield 6's most powerful sidearm is perfect for everyone – except me

FROM Battlefield 6Of the 45 launchers, only four are sidearms, giving players a fairly limited selection of weapons for their “emergency use”. The P18 starter pistol is what you would expect since there isn't really anything to pull out unless players run out of ammo in their primary weapons or unless players are stuck in a very close range scenario. ES 5.7 is actually slightly worse in terms of damage, but has a better rate of fire, meaning it falls under the same umbrella overall. The last two pistols players unlock are arguably the best as such. They are the M45A1 (level 39) and the M44 (level 48) revolver, the latter being undoubtedly the best choice – still I can't help but use the second best Battlefield 6 sidearm instead.

While the M44 is a guaranteed two-hit kill, which means it's the best weapon for players to swap out and actually use regularly in combat moments, my love for the M45A1 runs deep. For those unfamiliar with the M45A1, it is an upgraded version of the Colt M1911, a weapon that has appeared in many games over the years. My attachment to the M1911 began in Call of Duty: World at Warbecause it was a starting weapon Cod Zombies, maintaining this role in a few Black Ops titles too. Given how much I love Treyarch's survival mode (my playtime is roughly 100 real-world days in its various iterations, not to mention all the extra Cod Zombie media I've consumed) that would probably be enough to get me to join the gun. However, the connection does not end there.

While Battlelog has been taken down in the many years that have passed since then Battlefield 3I remember using the site a lot to keep track of my stats. This included regularly checking the number of M1911 kills, as I recall they exceeded 10,000. If I didn't have the most M1911 kills of anyone playing BF3I was definitely in the top 5 because I was constantly in situations where I had to use a gun. When I play Battlefield games, there's nothing I love more than sniping, but I also stick to it Battlefieldthe PTFO mantra. This meant I needed to arm my fair share of M-COMs or help capture flags, which meant I had to draw my gun as often as I found myself sniping, and that led to heaps of M1911 kills. So while most players should use the M44 as soon as they get it into the latest game, those who love the look and sound of the M1911, like me, should consider loading up for the M45A1.

The M44 revolver from Battlefield 6 is a real powerhouse

The only reason M44 didn't show up earlier in the day Battlefield 6The meta is that this is such a high level unlock because most players are just starting to reach ranks like 48. However, players who have completed the “Road to Battlefield 6” walkthrough in BF 2042 gained access to the Western Front weapon pack for this weapon upon release, giving it a Battlefield-thematic orange camouflage next to the default attachments. Even with the basic accessories, it was clear to these dedicated players how deadly this revolver is, as it fires fairly quickly for its massive 66 DMG damage per shot.

Attachments are limited for this gun, but with several options available, this is an ideal M44 cartridge:

  • Range: BF-2M 2.50X (10 points)
  • Ammunition: Hollow Point (20 points)
  • Barrel: 5.12” compact (15 points)
  • Magazine: 6. Speedloader (5 points)

The scope is a matter of personal preference, but I suggested the longer range option as the barrel improves the accuracy of the hipfire as it allows players to effectively use it at close and mid range. With headshots that normally deal 99 damage, there is a chance that a target at full health will survive one, so hollow point rounds are a must to guarantee they will satisfy 1 headshot.

Battlefield 6 M45A1 is second best and that's good enough for me

While the M44 is highly recommended for anyone adept at aiming for the head or controlling recoil for a two-shot kill to the body, anyone like me who loves the M1911 (or those who want an easy-to-handle pistol) should check out the M45A1. With the right attachments, its small magnet size can be countered while improving its accuracy.

The following settings can provide a great boost to the M45A1, making it an unforgettable weapon Battlefield 6:

  • Range: Iron sights (5 points)
  • Ammunition: Standard (5 points)
  • Magazine: 11th magazine (25 points)
  • Barrel: 5” pencil (20 points)

This build uses the 60 points available to members Battlefield 6 a community that likes ADS. For hipfire enthusiasts, the barrel should be replaced with a laser/light combo green butt.

While I can't deny that the sheer power of the M44 will probably win me more one-on-ones in multiplayer matches, I don't mind the added challenge of using the M45A1 in firefights. It's still a fast and reliable weapon that can easily get players a few kills with 11. mag, and I'm just too nostalgic for its predecessor to make do with a slightly longer TTK weapon.
