Bethesda's Indiana Jones can't be the only game to use Harrison Ford's likeness

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is another big release from Bethesda Softworks and MachineGames, the Swedish developer behind them Wolfenstein: The New Order and Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus. A game that takes place between events Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusadechronicles the escapades of the titular protagonist as he travels around the world to uncover the mystery behind an artifact that was stolen from the Vatican. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle features a number of real-world locations as playable levels, including Thailand, Egypt, the Himalayas, and Shanghai. Unlike previous video game adaptations of Lucasfilm's iconic film franchise, this upcoming Bethesda title uses a primarily first-person perspective, rather than a third-person perspective, similar to MachineGames' previous works.

One more noteworthy aspect Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is that it contains an effigy of Harrison Ford. Indiana Jones is portrayed in the game by Troy Baker, a respected voice actor best known for his starring roles in titles such as Far Cry 4, Tales of Vesperiaand The last of us. Indy's character model and physical appearance, on the other hand, is based on a young Harrison Ford. While it's great that Bethesda and MachineGames were able to secure a likeness for the award-winning actor, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle shouldn't be the only upcoming game to feature him. Lucasfilm and Disney should really try to make a Star Wars the game centered entirely around Han Solo, the character Ford portrays in the hit series.

Why Indiana Jones and the Great Circle might not be pulling out the big guns with a December release

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle promises adventure, but a game coming out in December might not be useful after all.

With Indiana Jones fast approaching, it's about time Lucasfilm gave fans a Han Solo game as well

Han Solo is one of Harrison Ford's defining roles

Before Harrison Ford cemented his status as a cultural icon with his portrayal of Indiana Jones v Raiders of the Lost Arkthe actor first rose to fame with his role as smuggler-turned-rebel hero Han Solo in the 1977 film Star Wars. Thanks to Ford's outstanding performance, Han Solo quickly became one of the most iconic characters in the series Star Wars universe, second only to Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader and Princess Leia. After the success of the first SW Harrison Ford reprized Han Solo in four subsequent films, including The Empire strikes back, Return of the Jediand The Force Awakens.

Han Solo has also appeared in countless video games over the years. One of the first appearances he ever made in the medium was in the 1992 run-and-gun platformer Super Star Warswhere he had a minor role as a temporary playable character. More recently, Solo has appeared in titles such as LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2, Kinect Star Wars, Disney Infinity 3.0and 2017 Star Wars: Battlefront 2.

Surprisingly, however, in more than 40 years Star Wars video games have existed, there isn't a single notable title starring Han Solo as the protagonist. You'd think, given the character's immense popularity, that some developer would have made a AAA Han Solo game by now, but apparently not. Which is why if a new, high-quality video game based on a gun-toting rebel is ever made, it would be a dream come true, especially if it were to follow a certain convention from Indy's upcoming outing.

And a Han Solo FPS similar to Indiana Jones and the Great Circle could be perfect

Like Indiana Jones and the Great Circleit might be a good idea for a hypothetical Han Solo game to use a first-person view. In this way it can be distinguished from the recent third person SW titles like Star Wars Outlaws and Jedi: Survivor. Due to the shortage Star Wars first-person shooters on the market recently, a single-player Han Solo title in the spirit SW: Dark forces or SW: Republic Commando has the potential to stand out among its peers. And frankly, if MachineGames is capable of nailing it Indiana Jones and the Great Circlethen it may be best suited for a Star Wars FPS starring the beloved character of Harrison Ford.
