Black Ops 7's launch numbers are barely over 10 percent of Battlefield 6's

It looks like the war between Battlefield and Call of Duty may already be over, as Black Ops 7 managed just over 10 percent of the number of players that launched Battlefield 6 on Steam.

There is no greater rivalry in gaming than Battlefield and Call of Duty. At one time, EA and Activision's flagships were both some of the biggest games in the world, but it's fair to say that Call of Duty's more casual appeal meant it always had a bit of an edge over the hardcore stylization of Battlefield.

It's been a long time since Battlefield and Call of Duty clashed, as BF has been in hiding since 2042, when he undoubtedly lost the fight to Vanguard. 2025 finally gave these two FPS juggernauts their revenge, but it was pretty clear to everyone who would come out on top, as Black Ops 7's launch numbers on Steam confirmed.

Battlefield 6 Lists Players on Steam Eclipses Black Ops 7

Even Game Pass might not be enough as a good argument this time

As we reported a few days ago, Black Ops 7 launch numbers (at least on Steam) were a bit subdued for the new Call of Duty release. Now that Black Ops 7 has been out for a few days, that number hasn't increased that much, as SteamDB shows that Call of Duty as a whole peaked at 87,882 players in the last 24 hours.

That number is sure to increase a bit over the weekend, but as it stands, Black Ops 7 is off to a surprisingly weak start. Comparing it to Battlefield 6, which had a whopping 747,440 players on launch day, shows just how one-sided the fight was. At the time of writing, Black Ops 7 has amassed just over 10 percent of Battlefield 6's launch player count.

Of course, the elephant in the room is Game Pass to consider, as many players will likely be playing Black Ops 7 on consoles other than Steam. Those numbers haven't been revealed yet, but it seems unlikely that the scales will tip that much. Battlefield 6 also released on several other consoles other than Steam, and still achieved record numbers on that platform.

We'll have to wait and see if Activision releases any numbers for Black Ops 7 in the next few days, but right now it's clear that the vast majority of players on Steam have sided with Battlefield 6 this time around. In fact, Battlefield 6's Steam player count is still greater than Black Ops 7's, having peaked at 271,307 in the last 24 hours alone.
