However, just over a week after the game's initial release, Borderlands 4 was delayed indefinitely on the Nintendo Switch 2, with neither Gearbox nor Take-Two able to commit to a new release date. The project then went silent as the developer focused on creating new content for the game. Many players may be disappointed with the latest developments in this saga, and understandably so. But it is worth pointing out possible reasons why this decision might have been made. After its release, Borderlands 4 on PC it was panned for its performance, with many players suffering from stuttering and low frame rates. Although it has improved since then, it is clear that there were serious optimization problems. Since the Nintendo Switch 2 would be the weakest platform to launch the game on, optimization would be very important to bring it to an acceptable state, and it's possible that Gearbox just didn't want to invest the time and resources necessary to get it where it needed to be.

Another unnamed Story Pack will follow in Q3, with smaller Bounty Packs providing even more content in between.
