Borderlands 4's Dry Spell update may have an end in sight

Just over two months since its launch, things have slowed down tremendously Borderlands 4. For about a month, fans have been treated to several major updates to the game – attempts to improve performance, balance adjustments to various vault hunters, and lots of golden keys for a better chance of getting legendary items with minimal effort. The last few weeks though Borderlands 4The rollout of updates was essentially non-existent. There were updates, but they were minor at best, with the primary goal being to reset the game's weekly activities.

Needless to say, Borderlands 4 has been on quite a drought lately, with seemingly almost nothing aimed at keeping fans around. In fact, the game's last major update worth talking about was on October 23rd, almost a full month at the time of writing. For fans who originally expected it Borderlands 4with all its elements of a live service, to retain your interest long-term, which is extremely discouraging. Worse, Gearbox has been teasing “new and exciting content” for the past few weeks with no indication of when that content might arrive. However, there could be an end to this long wait with an excuse to dive into again Borderlands 4 potentially just around the corner.

Borderlands 4 has been teasing content for weeks

These teases largely began on November 6, when Borderlands 4 creative director Graeme Timmins responded to a fan on X by stating, “We're working on some stuff and hope to write some more information into the schedule. It's keeping us busy at the moment.” Since then, both Timmins and the clerk Borderlands 4 Page X mentioned upcoming content, with Timmins specifically pointing to an eventual announcement of a plan based on player feedback. The creative director has understandably been discreet about said plan, even telling a fan in another response, “I hate making promises and not delivering.”

A minor fix was released the same day Borderlands 4 which focused on a couple of passive skills and a drop rate for the phosphene weapon – but that was it, apart from the standard weekly reset. Then November 13th rolled around and with the jokes from Timmins the week before, it was assumed that the game would get at least a little more than it actually did. Unlike almost every update before it, the November 13 update wasn't really an update, just an announcement Borderlands 4The user's weekly activities have been reset.

Borderlands 4's next big update could arrive alongside its first Bounty Pack

frontier mercenary day dlc

Now is all that is immediately before us Borderlands 4First Bounty Pack, How Rush Saved Mercenary Day. Set to launch on November 20th, How Rush Saved Mercenary Day is the first paid DLC Borderlands 4and will bring with it a new story, new equipment and new cosmetics for players who have purchased it. While this will no doubt give those who own the DLC a reason to return to the game, it may not do much for those who don't, who are still hoping for some kind of free update to renew their interest.

However, it is highly likely that Borderlands 4 a plan that Timmins and the rest of the crew have been hinting at for the past few weeks will land alongside the release of the first Bounty Pack on November 20th. Since the team didn't mention the Bounty Pack in these previews, it stands to reason that the update will be separate from the DLC, continuing the trend that Borderlands 4 maintained approximately one month after its launch. As such, it looks like the end of this dry spell could be in sight Borderlands 4 was in, even for those who don't plan to play the DLC. We hope November 20, 2025 is the end.
