Pokemon and Build-a-Bear are teaming up again, this time to introduce a Riola Build-a-Bear plush model. As usual, the toy will be exclusive to Build-a-Bear, and the popular pocket monsters often sell out, so Pokemon fans shouldn't wait too long to secure one if they count Riola among their favorites.
Introduced back in Pokemon Diamond and PearlRiolu is the child form of Lucario, one of the popular Pokémon of the series. While Lucario is usually considered more popular than Riolu, the evolved form surprisingly lacks Build-a-Bear to this day. Build-a-Bear has previously celebrated Lucario in part by giving Charmander a Lucario hoodie to wear, but this is the first time the Pokemon evolutionary line has actually been brought to life by the plush company.

Pokemon fans can now pick up Build-a-Bear's Riola, the latest Pokémon to join the company following the release of Build-a-Bear's Cubone in October. As with everyone Pokemon Build-a-Bears is more than just a soft toy. In addition to the basic plush, Riolu also includes his own wearable hoodie and a 5-in-1 sound chip that allows him to “speak” with recordings of his voice clips played through the plush. The hoodie is a bit simple in its design, appearing to be primarily white with a Poke Ball design in the middle breaking up the otherwise blank canvas. Those interested can pick up a Build-a-Bear Riola for $57.
The Pokemon Build-a-Bear Line continues to grow
Pokemon and Build-a-Bear began their partnership back in 2015, so the two companies' partnership is approaching its 10-year anniversary. Of course, the creations started with Pikachu, the mascot of the series. Since the plush toys were an instant success, they were joined over the years by other iconic snacks, Eeveelutions, and popular Pokémon like Jigglypuff.
At the moment, the future of the two companies behind Riola remains unknown. Before a new Pokémon is introduced at Build-a-Bear, there are sometimes leaks and hints, so fans should be on the lookout for them. While the plans are unknown, many fans are likely hoping for the return of some of the discontinued Build-a-Bear toys that have been unavailable for years to return in honor of the ten-year anniversary. Even re-introducing some of the additional outfits that have been released over the years, if not the plushies themselves, would probably get some die-hards Pokemon fanatics.
