TheGhostOfHope (aka Hope) is one of the most prolific and trusted leaks when it comes to Call of Duty. They previously reported on confidential internal decisions such as Black Ops 7 Zombies remaking the Alpha Omega Nuketown map, Modern Warfare 4 being a complete copy of the original Modern Warfare 2, and most recently a standalone Zombies game for 2026. However, they announced that they are hanging up their boots thanks to a legal notice from Activision.
Hope announced the decision on her X handle, revealing that Activision had put legal pressure on them to stop releasing such information and that they would comply. The renowned insider will still talk about the Call of Duty franchise, but don't expect any more inside information from them.
Activision sent TheGhostOfHope a legal notice
“Activision has legally demanded that I stop leaking and disseminating confidential information related to Call of Duty/Activision and I am complying with their demands,” Hope wrote on Twitter. “We'll still be here to chat about official Call of Duty info and anything non-leaked/confidential. Cheers to the last few years.”
This development coincides suspiciously with Call of Duty denying Hope's leak about a standalone Zombies game. Many outlets, including TheGamer, shared the Ghost leak, but it's very rare that Call of Duty has come out to deny one of its leaks. The legal notice and announcement of Ghost's retirement comes just eight days after this.

I'm just speculating here, but the timeline seems a bit suspect to me. Could the Ghost leak have actually caused internal problems at Activision, forcing them to change plans and send the leak to a halt? The legal notice probably prohibits them from sharing information about the legal notice itself, so we'll probably never know.
While this is a loss for the community, it's probably best if Hope complies with the legal notice because Activision's lawyers would crush them. Maybe a new leaker will emerge from this: TheGhostOfGhostOfHope?
