Raven Software Explains Why Black Ops Royale Has No Solos
Call of DutyThe big Season 2 Reloaded update is out today, March 11, for Black Ops 7 and Warzonebut fans looking to jump into the new Black Ops Royale mode will have to wait one more day ObscurationInspired mode won't launch until March 12th. However, it has already been confirmed that Black Ops Royale will only feature Quads matchmaking, meaning players will need to team up with three others when they get to Avalon. As expected, this pissed off a lot of players, especially those who like to play solo. In response, Raven Software released a statement explaining its reasoning for the decision. “Because it's such a fresh experience, and with so many possible directions we could go in, we decided to launch with a single mode based on squad size, which has proven to be the most popular of all our other modes,” the studio said in a new post on Twitter. It also notes how it's heard player feedback and will “continue the dialogue.”

In a separate post, Raven Software also addressed community questions about players being able to use weapon skins in Black Ops Royale. The studio said it was a “massive effort”. Black Ops 4is iconic Obscuration back mode involving multiple teams. Unfortunately, Raven notes that implementing a fully functional system to support cosmetic integrations “requires significant development time.” Therefore, the team's current goal is to ensure that the core experience is a good fit for players. Black Ops Royale will continue to be evaluated by Raven Software, as the studio says it will continue to provide updates on whether or not it intends to expand support for things like weapon skins.
Raven recently pulled back the curtain on Black Ops Royale, detailing all the iconic features and systems set to return from the Obscuration. While this mod won't be a 1:1 recreation, it was heavily inspired Black Ops 4's Battle Royale, meaning there will be no weapon stash, no gulag, and no shopping stations. Wingsuits will also return as players fly through the new Avalon map. Raven says there are big influences from the core Obscuration experiences such as bullet drop and weapon handling, as well as the armor system and use of the Trauma Kit.
