Charlotte was the first playable Fontaine character ever introduced in Genshin Impact. However, it wouldn’t be until Version 4.2 when she actually became playable.

Charlotte is a reporter with the Steambird, Fontaine’s local newspaper. She’s also the proud owner of a Cryo Vision, which she uses alongside a catalyst and her trusty Kamera. For players who want to ascend Charlotte and upgrade her many talents, these are the items they’ll need.

All ascension gems can be found in a variety of ways, including daily commissions and event rewards. However, the vast majority of them come from defeating bosses. Those who can drop Shivada Jade are the following:

*Azhdaha and the Primo Geovishap can only drop Shivada Jade when they’re aligned with Cryo.

Boss Drop – How to Get “Tourbillon Device”

A larger version of Clockwork Meka, known as the Experimental Field Generator, also drops a larger version of a Clockwork Meka gear, the “Tourbillon Device.” Charlotte uses this device in her ascension.

This boss is found in the ruins of the Fontaine Research Institute. Be sure to bring a Pneuma-aligned character, as this boss harness Ousia to deliver some powerful attacks. Here’s a full guide:

Here’s how players can farm Tourbillon Device quickly while fighting the Experimental Field Generator boss in Genshin Impact.

Local Specialty – Beryl Conch Locations

Beryl Conches are dotted around Fontaine and are the local specialty used for Charlotte’s ascension. They’re found underwater, so players will need to dive for them.

However, some vendors also sell them. Hinterman, the fishmonger near Poisson, sells five of them every three days for 1,000 Mora. Xana, the Melusine, also sells a set of ten of them just once, and they must be bought all together, though for only 1 Strange Part. She’s only available as a vendor after finishing the Ancient Colors World Quest series.

Beryl Conch is a Fontaine local specialty in Genshin Impact that can be found underwater.

Talent Books – Justice

The talent book series she’ll need is the Justice series, which is obtainable from the Pale Forgotten Glory domain in Fontaine. It’ll drop these books on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Trounce Materials – Lightless Silk String

The final item needed for Charlotte’s talents is the Lightless Silk String. This item can only be obtained by defeating the All-Devouring Narwhal trounce domain. Of course, this domain is only unlocked by clearing the Fontaine Archon Quest. However, players who have reached Adventure Rank 40 can Quick Challenge it, but in solo mode only.
