Square Enix has officially revealed a set of special 31st anniversary merchandise Chrono Triggercelebrating the beloved RPG with gorgeous new key chains. Square Enix's sci-fi time-based RPG quickly became one of the Super Nintendo's most iconic games after its release in 1995, winning the hearts of fans and critics alike. Chrono Trigger has been hailed not only as one of the best RPGs of all time, but also as one of the best games of all time. The RPG has also stood the test of time and received a large number of re-releases.
Chrono Trigger has been ported to a number of new consoles since its original SNES version, making the game accessible for multiplayer. The RPG received its first PlayStation port in 1999 in Japan, just weeks before the release of its sequel, Chrono Crosswhile port later arrived in North America in 2001. Chrono Trigger it has since been ported to the Nintendo DS, PC, and mobile devices, and has also been made available on the Wii through the Virtual Console service. Now, Square Enix is celebrating the game's 31st anniversary with a set of exclusive new keychains.

Square Enix officially introduced the One Mark Collection of Chrono Trigger keychains to celebrate the anniversary of the game. The line of accessories contains two variants of each member Chrono TriggerPlayable cast with idle stance and attack pose available for a total of 14 confirmed designs. The post also teased a mysterious 15th keychain that will be available as part of the set, though no official details were given about the special accessory. The keychains are released via Japanese Gacha machines for ¥500, which include either a rubber band or a metal buckle version.

Keychains serve as excellent tributes Chrono TriggerA cute cast of characters, though many fans may have trouble getting them. Square Enix has not made any official announcement regarding the international availability of the keychains, only confirming the release of the Japanese gacha. The limited edition keychains also don't appear to include any online purchase options in Japan, presumably only available through Gacha machines. Collecting specific characters could also quickly get expensive for fans due to the high number of different variants available in the set.
Chrono TriggerThe 31st anniversary celebration comes as the series' future is largely unclear. The aforementioned Chrono Cross it currently stands as the last brand new game in a series that is just getting started Chrono Trigger's DS remake and ports in subsequent years. Square Enix was rumored to be developing a third game in the series in the early 2000s, tentatively titled Chrono Breakbut this was reportedly canceled before any official announcement. However, the return of the iconic RPG series was not far from fans' minds.
Return Chrono series is a popular request from fans eager to jump back into the sci-fi world of the franchise. In addition to a full sequel, many fans have been pushing for Square Enix to remake the original Chrono Triggerin the same vein as a number of recent ones from Square Enix Dragon Quest remodels. Chrono Trigger co-creator Yuji Horii even addressed the possibility of a remake, suggesting he was considering the idea after the recent HD-2D remakes of the first three Dragon Quest games. Chrono Trigger fans may still have hope for the long-awaited revival of Square Enix's cult RPG.
