Cookie Run Franchise Announces New 3D Open World Game

Cookie Run: The New World is the name of a new 3D open-world game from the South Korean studio Devsisters. Announced during the company's last annual show, the upcoming addition to Cookie Run the franchise is still a long way off and is slated for a late 2020 release.

The reveal follows earlier signs that Devsisters is preparing a larger expansion Cookie Run mark. In the February 2026 strategy update, the company confirmed that it was working on an open-world Unreal Engine game for PC, consoles, and mobile devices. At the time, Devsisters said the upcoming title was codenamed “Project N” and was a way to expand its franchise to a new audience, ultimately helping to strengthen its global footprint.

Project N was officially revealed as Cookie Run: The New World during the DevNow 2026 show. The March 20 event featured a 91-second announcement trailer that positions the game as a big-budget 3D title with a scenic open world. A company representative described the title as an action RPG during the showcase. No further details about the game were offered, though the South Korean developer did share a bit more about the lore and status of the upcoming title.

Cookie Run: The New World it is currently slated to launch in 2029. The said launch window is to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the series. original record, OvenBreaklaunched on June 12, 2009. That goes without saying Cookie Run: The New World is actively targeting a June 2029 debut. It's most likely not at the stage where a specific release month is being seriously discussed by the higher up Devsisters. With modern game development being as complex as it is, it's impossible to plan a specific launch a month three years in advance because projects have too many moving parts, which introduces a significant degree of unpredictability.

The upcoming open-world RPG takes place sometime after the era of five legendary heroes from the games Cookie Run tradition. Players will take on the role of an undemanding protagonist who will explore the many corners of the Cookie continent. During their travels, they will face a threat emanating from a mysterious source, Devsisters said. The combination of open world format and action RPG combat is telling Cookie Run: The New World it will have plenty of side quests that will follow the conventions of the genre. However, no concrete details were shared during DevNow 2026. Since the project has reportedly only recently entered active production, or is about to (based on the release window), it's likely that many of its gameplay elements aren't set in stone yet.

Cookie Run: The New World is Devsisters' first game in development for both PC and console. It is also being worked on for mobile devices. Although Devsisters didn't elaborate, its results so far suggest that “mobile” means both iOS and Android. Many key questions about the project remain unanswered, including its business model and basic game design. As for the latter, Devsisters' announcement didn't specify whether Cookie Run: The New World is planned as a single or multiplayer experience. Likewise, it remains unclear if the Unreal Engine 5 title will be paid or if it will adopt some kind of free-to-play business model.
