Crimson Desert players need to invest in 1 stat more than anything else

Players jump on their heads Crimson desert it is recommended that they spend most of their Abyss Artifacts on Stamina stat boosts rather than anything else. That might not sound like good advice in a game with as many flashy skills as Crimson desertbut Stamina effectively underlines how enjoyable the experience is. Pearl Abyss' flagship single-player RPG is nothing complex and layered, and basic character stats are just the beginning.

Crimson desert is a generally excellent RPG with major issues lurking beneath, but its release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S was mostly met with enthusiasm and hype. It handles many of its progression and gameplay mechanics in a non-standard way, for one, and character leveling is one of those items. Instead of accumulating experience for discrete leveling up, players must hunt for Abyss artifacts to spend on stats and abilities. The basic stats are Health, Spirit and Stamina, with the latter in particular being extremely important.

Crimson Desert will not have difficulty options or be easy, says its developer.

Pearl Abyss clarifies how hard players can expect Crimson Desert to be and whether it will have difficulty options ahead of its March 2026 release.

Crimson Desert's stamina stat is critical to gameplay enjoyment and browsing

According to content creator WolfheartFPS on Twitter, stamina is easily the most important early game investment. Crimson desert players. In a balanced movement that reflects what the players have experienced Breath of the Wild, Crimson Desert'Crawling effectively depends on a solid pool of Stamina for characters to draw from. It affects both running and flying, and WolfheartFPS claims it makes traversal difficult early on. From Crimson desert isn't afraid to break gaming conventions in ways that might seem illogical at first, it shouldn't come as a surprise that the game might gently nudge players to invest in early stats before picking up flashy combat skills.

WolfheartFPS says that 200 Stamina should be the bare minimum to aim for, as a pool of this size provides plenty of resources to get through. Additionally, 200 Stamina is also the minimum requirement for skills like Aerial Swing (under the Axiom Force skill tree), providing even more options in both movement and combat. Health is the second most important base stat to level after Stamina, with Spirit being by far the least urgent of the three. Having a decent pool of stamina and health helps a lot for early game progression Crimson desertwhile Spirit passively regenerates on its own and is less punishing to ignore.

Importantly, the stat boost applies to all playable characters at the same time, meaning that Abyss artifacts invested in Kliff's Stamina will also carry over to Oongka and Damian as they become available. This makes early statistical investments even more effective than they might initially appear, with returns compounding over time. Since many Abyss Artifacts are hidden behind walkthrough puzzles, 200 Stamina will make it much easier to find more.

While Crimson desert is definitely an interesting deconstruction of many genre tropes, it's not as big a hit as some might expect. With 'Mixed' reviews on Steam due to its complexity, mediocre storytelling and plodding pacing, there's a bit of a cloud hanging over it right now. Further, Pearl Abyss shares fell nearly 30% after the initial valuation crystallized. While Crimson desert isn't a bad game by any meaningful metric, the incredible amount of pre-release hype may have affected player expectations and in turn may have helped lower review scores.
