GTFO developer 10 Chambers Collective has announced a “significant restructuring” that includes layoffs so large it will even affect several of its co-founders. The move comes as the Swedish studio is still trying to get its next project off the ground, a cyberpunk heist game Lair of wolves.
Co-founded in 2015 by several background developers Payday and Payday 210 Chambers is a Stockholm-based studio that has released one title to date: GTFOa co-op action horror game for four players. As of early 2026, an estimated 3 million copies of the title have been sold on Steam, according to Gamalytic data. In December 2023, 10 Chambers announced their next project in the form of Lair of wolvesa first-person cyberpunk heist game that's closer to it Payday roots than GTFO was.

In a statement to Game Developer in mid-February 2026, 10 Chambers confirmed that it was making a “large number” of layoffs as part of a major restructuring effort. “We can confirm that we are taking a hard look at how we work and how the studio is set up, so Lair of wolves can become the game it deserves to be,” said a company representative. “Unfortunately, this means a significant restructuring of the studio that will affect a large number of roles, including several of the studio's co-founders.” The Swedish indie studio did not mention any of the laid-off employees by name, citing a desire to maintain respect for everyone's individual situation. The company's only co-founder who announced his departure in February is H1mar5, H1. 10 Chambers, now the former director of development.

The developer did not disclose the exact number of employees affected by the newly confirmed layoffs. The formal confirmation of the restructuring was preceded by a wave of employees who revealed on LinkedIn that they had been let go. In a prepared statement, the company emphasized that 10 Chambers creative director Ulf Andersson and composer Simon Viklund – both co-founders – remain “fully committed” to providing Lair of wolves and studio management for this milestone. While the studio has acknowledged that the staff cuts are critical, they intend them to be more of a structural reset than a change in the core vision of their upcoming project.
It remains unclear how the layoffs will affect the development of the next 10 Chambers title. While the Swedish studio was confident enough to offer limited Lair of wolves previews to select media in Spring 2025, has yet to indicate how close the game is to completion. The project has been described as being in pre-alpha from the second half of 2025, though that's a fairly vague term that can include anything from an early prototype with major systems still in development to a more advanced build that lacks content and polish, offering little concrete insight into the game's remaining development time.

The new cuts mark the second time in about two years that 10 Chambers has downsized, following a minor reorganization in February 2024 in which the studio eliminated five roles. The company did not provide a specific number to illustrate the extent of the February 2026 job cuts. 10 Chambers previously said Lair of wolves will follow a development trajectory similar to his debut title, GTFOwith a planned launch into Steam Early Access. The studio intends to use this phase as an extended beta period and incorporate player feedback to improve the game before full release.
