Diablo 4 players want major changes to one core feature

Diablo 4 players are calling for some major event changes at some point in the future. Although it doesn't seem to be on the schedule for Season 11 Diablo 4it's one area of the game that some players feel needs an overhaul.

Right now, Diablo 4 players can participate in events both in dungeons and in the overworld. These events usually (but not always) link players to a one-minute timer in which they can complete a mastery objective and gain extra loot. For new players, these events are interesting, but for many veterans events are nothing more than an inconvenience to be skipped over at every opportunity. They are never required to complete a Diablo 4 dungeon, so those who want to get to the endgame content as quickly as possible will often just skip it when the loot is no longer worth the time.

A thread started by Redditor Hawke023 brought up current events issues in the Diablo 4. As the player points out, most players are able to complete the mastery criteria in seconds and are still tied to a minute timer that can be spent doing other things. This is especially prevalent in dungeon events (compared to local events), where the main objective is usually to survive an enemy attack. As a result, experienced players ignore them because, as Hawke023 explains, “it completely kills the pace of the game.” The fact that the rewards are usually “disproportionate” is another huge problem, according to the player.

Hawke023 didn't just come up with the problems, he also outlined some potential solutions, suggesting that events could be shortened to just 30 seconds, or that the timer could drop to five seconds when the Mastery timer is completed. Elsewhere in the thread, players agreed that the events are slightly outdated Diablo 4with another user increasing the kill counter option while events are active which have an “incremental gold/xp multiplier reward that increases based on your kill counter”. While Diablo 4 events have been frustrating some players for some time, some of these suggestions could possibly fix the most significant issues.

Although Blizzard has a good track record of listening to what players want and acting on it, it doesn't seem like they will Diablo 4 Season 11 will focus on rejuvenating events. Instead, Season 11 will focus on changes to tempering and masterwork, as well as the Divine Gifts and Sanctification system that will arrive as seasonal mechanics. However, it's always possible that Blizzard will look a little further into the future.
