In the world Dungeons & DragonsWarlocks are magicians who gain their magical skills through negotiations or a contract with some powerful entity. They can range from the inhabitants of nine hell (subclass Fiend) to the beings of the upper planes (heavenly subclass) to the strongest of those living in Feywild: Archfey.
Not only no Fey can be the patron of Warlock. Only the strongest can grant these abilities to the mortal and give them strength to scare, frighten, and disorient their enemies illusions and magic magic. When building a figure of Warlock, it is important to consider their relationship with their patron and how they concluded a contract with them. How did they meet? What convinced the patron to give their power to the mortal? Here are some of the most important Archfey in Forgotted Realms Lore and what Warlock with them may look like a player's character.
Queen of the Air and Darkness
The ruler of the court of unseelie
The Unseelie court includes the evil inhabitants of Feywild and the Queen of the Air, and the darkness is the strongest of them. She was once the sister of Fey's ruler Titania, but was damaged by an artifact known as a black diamond that radiated evil from an unknown source. Since then, Unseelia, the Empire of Darkness and Hate, has lived in court, full of corrupt Fey, which served her.
Thus, the queen of air and darkness is perfect for Warlock players aligned with evil, looking for her strength to hurt others. Her personality is not known little, but since she considers the hobby of Unseelie Fey for cruelty, it is likely that this is a sentiment he shares. Warlocks, however, may not be aligned for it. Perhaps the character with her created a contract of despair or coercion, and now they are contrary to her. Or perhaps they were just hungry and were willing to overlook her malevolent nature.
Titania, Summer Queen of the Feywild
The ruler of the Selie court
On the other hand, Titania is a leader of a well -ranked Fey, known as Seelia. It has incredible power over natural forces and shifts in its moods can cause drastic changes in the environment around it. Although some consider it unstable or variable, it is also incredibly intelligent and serves as fair and righteous rulers. He desires nothing more than to see how everything lives in joy and harmony and protect Fey Realms from damage. Titania is usually benevolent and gentle, but when it is provoked, its anger is terror.
Titania is one of the most common Archfey patrons for Warlocks in Faerna because it is fascinated by mortals and often entertain their escapades. Warlock could get her kindness simply by entertaining her with such antiquity, which led her to give her her power as a blessing. Alternatively, Warlock could be invited at a time of danger to touch Titania to defend Feywild or Selie.
Oberon, Green Lord
Lord of Beasts
Titania's Consort, Oberon, is almost as powerful as her. Like Titania, it is deeply tuned to nature and has a special connection with the animals Feywild and Faerhen. It tends to be more direct and less cheater than most other Fey and is less dependent on illusion magic. Oberon is a strong, incredibly qualified hunter and warrior, and like Titania, he is a solid protector of all creatures and empires.
As a patron of Warlock, Oberon is perfect for an animal lover or finds himself in harmony with forests. Perhaps they attracted Oberon's attention through the performance of hunting fitness or the skills of animal taming. Maybe they even proved themselves by taking him in hunting. No matter how it started, the Warlock Pact with Oberon provides players with fascinating opportunities to induce the power of wild animals.
Hyrsam, Prince of Fools
Anarchist Feywild
Hyrsam has the shape of Satyr and is one of the most chaotically aligned Archfey. He does not like the influence that abroad on the civilization of Feywild, and seeks to return it to their most moist and unproven forms. Most of his forces stem from his championship over music, because he can use it to influence people or project them into madness. He is looking for allies from all over the world to help him overthrow society and the government in Feywild, which sometimes leads him to create contracts with mortals.
Due to its connection with music, Hyrsam is a great patron for any musically inclined Warlock and the perfect choice for compiling multiclass bard/Warlock. Maybe Bard's character would be looking for him in the interest of their craft, expanding himself to the Warlock class. Alternatively, it could have been influenced by the character of Hyrsam music to accept the contract – voluntarily or otherwise.
Psilofyr, Lord of Myconids
Lord Spore Feydark
Feydark is basically underdark Feywild, and this is a place where a mysterious character known as Psilofyr dwells. He worships him myconides and his main concern is to grow and enlarge their race, even if it does not clean it at the cost of unhappy civilizations. Through the intimidating, even if it may seem, it is usually friendly to mortals and admires them that they have best used their limited lifetime. As such, the benevolent patron of Warlocks, who has strengthened to him.
Yet Psilofyr is still a mysterious figure and is not well understood by the myconids who worship him. His personalities are unpredictable, changing when growing and dividing into more manifestations. It offers a lot of fun options in the campaign. Warlock players never have to know what side of Psilofyra they will get, and DMS will have a lot of chances to surprise players with unexpected.
Baba yaga, mother of all witches
Hag classic folklore
Baba Yaga comes from the Slavic folklore and is a character in many stories that shaped the contemporary cultural image of a typical witch. She lives in a shack that stands on chicken legs, is infamous for deceiving mortals, which usually leads to ending up in her steamed pot. In the world of forgotten empires, Baba Yaga Faerhen and Feywild travel in their roaming cottage. She is somehow related to Hags when she raised at least three daughters.
Although it is known to be dangerous and aligned, it is not uncommon for mortals to look for it because of the immense magical knowledge it has. The figure of Warlock might be left in exchange for such knowledge for many reasons. Alternatively, the character Baba Yaga fooled into the pact, because something would be very character for her.
Iggwilv/Zybilna/Tasha
Witch queen
A lot of players D&D recognizes the name Tasha, be it magic like Tasha's horrible laughter or expansion book Tash's boiler of everything. But “Tasha” is just one of many names, and this Archfey is more often Iggwilv. Although she began her existence as a deadly woman, Iggwilv was adopted by Baba Yaga, where she began to gain her magic forces. Later she moved between the worlds of hell and eventually came to rule her own domain in Feywild called Zybilna. Over time, Feywild's magic turned her into the creation of Fey, and she became known as Archpey.
Like her adoptive mother, Iggwilv has an incredible amount of magical knowledge when he studied both demons and Fey in detail. For cruelty it is not looking for cruelty; But he does not hesitate to use his power to destroy her enemies. It is an excellent choice for players who want a patron submerged in the tradition of D&D, and ideal for characters powered by a desire for magical knowledge.
Cerunnos, Horned Lord
Hunting
Cerunnos is a neutral, slightly evil inclined Archfey, making it perfect for Warlock's morally gray figures. He was born as a firbolg and was once protected by Oberon, but was cursed and expelled. Now he's an eye -catcher without a real home, looking for prey and chasing them. He commands the wild hunting in which he and his chases sweep on the ground and look for their quarry, attract all witnesses to join them in this tireless persecution.
Cerunnos is worshiped by Firbolgs and Kentaura, making it a suitable patron of Warlock for the characters of these races. With regard to the one -time nature with which he controls wild hunting, Warlocks can draw for many for similarly obsessed reasons. Mortál could win him with the promise of a new quarry or tied to wild hunting.
Kannoth, Vampire Lord Cendriane
There is little about Kannoth in the official Lore D&D, but has great narrative potential as a patron of Warlock. It ruled over Cendriane, the famous Fey City that existed both in Faerna and Feywild. Kannoth is even said he stayed in the city after being destroyed by Drow because his only remaining population. Sometimes it is associated with Cerunnos' wild hunting and is said to remain loyal to Cerunnos himself.
Although the vampire is, Kannoth is not necessarily evil; Its alignment is not defined. His activities after the fall of Cendriane are similarly mysterious. As such, it is mostly an empty slate for players to work with. What is his personality and what are his motivation to produce pacts with mortals? Maybe he has a benevolent side, due to Cendriane's glory. Or perhaps he turned to evil in his indignation after his city fell. Players can explore a lot here, so Kannoth is perfect for those who like to rotate their own rotation on less known characters of forgotten empires.
