This official comment from EA comes just a few hours after a new leak surfaced that allegedly details the content of what could be The Sims 4the last expansion pack.

Future The Sims franchise has been a hot topic in the fan community for the past few months, with several recent leaks all stating very different potential scenarios for the series' direction. EA says the official Sims 4 news will arrive in January 2026

Soon after this leak was published, a message from the Sims community website was posted discussing the information about the leak. This article was then shared on Sims 4 Subreddit. Just three hours after stumbling upon the Subreddit, a member The SimsThe official community team (Reddit username Mindy_SimsCommunity) responded to the post saying:

“Hey Simmers. We know there's been a lot of misinformation going around. We'll be back in early January with what we should know via our official Sims channels. We hope you're all enjoying the holidays!”

This Sims community member (who officially posted the feature of the day The Sims subreddit since May 30) did not specify how much of this leak could be considered disinformation. However, it looks like fans won't have to wait too long to find out as it sounds like EA will be delivering some official updates through their official channels in early January.

It's also important to note that this comment from the EA community may also have been referring to another rumor first circulated in November by ATRL user 'gloamingtheplain', who claimed that the single-player Project Rene component (reportedly known internally as 'Project X') would be sold separately in late 2026. According to this single player leak, this news will be Sims the game could be called The Sims 5but it won't be as “complicated” as many fans would expect a full-on Sims 4 there will be a sequel. This leak also claims that another Sims 4 the expansion pack will be his last, although the leaker did not know its theme.

There was also a rumor in November claiming this The Sims 4 might get some kind of remaster soon, though a lot of them Sims the community has expressed its disbelief in such a project, including Sims content creator SimMattically, who stated via X's post on November 19 that “there is no Sims 4 remaster”. That means there are several of them Sims projects that are reportedly being worked on alongside the long-awaited Rene project, such as some sort of mobile Sims game and a new platform known as The Sims Hub.

There's a pretty solid chance that EA is about to spill the beans on the future The Sims franchise and put all these rumors to rest. Over the years, EA has occasionally dropped “Behind the Sims” videos. The Sims” the official YouTube channel to highlight new content they are targeting The Sims 4 and teasing the future of the wider franchise. For example, October 2022's Behind the Sims Summit stream gave fans their very first look at Project Rene, which was described at the time as “next-gen.” Sims gaming and creative platform.” It's possible that EA will return with another Behind the Sims stream in January 2026, hopefully shedding some light on these recent rumors.
