Once upon a time, in a galaxy far, far away…. There have been countless video games set in rich environments Star Wars universe, yet very few actual role-playing games, which is surprising considering how perfectly it turned out over two decades ago. With so many different actions, adventures, strategies, shooting games or even races SW titles, only four true Star Wars RPGs exist so far with one being permanently discontinued and three others belonging to a single recognized series.
Every single Star Wars movie and TV show currently on hold
With the change in leadership at Lucasfilm, many Star Wars projects are currently on hold, leaving fans wondering if they will ever make it to the big screen.
Like the future Star Wars The RPG potentially looks pretty promising, with Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake reportedly still in development (though many no longer believe it will see the light of day after quite a bit of turbulence), as well as last year's surprise announcement Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republictoday our gaze is directed only to the past. This list ranks them all Star Wars RPG released so far, prioritizing its size and long-term legacy above all else.

Star Wars Galaxy
More remote memories for old Star Wars fans
2003 was undoubtedly a golden era Star Wars RPG, marking the launch of two of four ambitious RPG titles, the first of which is Star Wars Galaxy. Long awaited Star Wars An MMO with unprecedented scope, Galaxy featured ten playable species (Human, Twi'lek, Zabrak, Trandoshan, Rodian, Wookiee, Bothan, Sullustan, Mon Calamari and Ithorian) and 12 different planets (Corellia, Dantooine, Dathomir, Endor, Lok, Naboo, Rori, Talus, Tatooine, Yayyk IV and Musta IV, Kashy). Despite being set between A new hope and The Empire strikes backin Galaxyplayers did not participate in any major canonical events, further diminishing its legacy and impact on modern times Star Wars history.
Star Wars: Every Battlefront Game, Rated
From the original game to EA's rebooted series, there are six games in the Star Wars: Battlefront franchise, some of which are considered beloved classics.
Started with full name Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Dividedthe game saw three major expansions: Go to the speed of light, Rage of the Wookieesand Trials with Obi-Wanexpanding its content and features, including the ability to pilot your own spacecraft in special interplanetary space zones. The game ran for 8 years, finally being shut down in December 2011 and essentially replaced Star Wars: The Old Republic. While back in the day, Star Wars Galaxy was a dream project for many fans, the game's limited lifespan and lack of any sequels and legal ways to experience it today make it more of a distant memory for veterans than something that has much impact for a new generation of gamers.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 – The Sith Lords
One step ahead of true size
For many (including me) Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 – The Sith Lords represents a definite favorite among all Star Wars RPG (or maybe even all of them SW games), yet some of the sequel's issues cannot be ignored. Developed on a very tight schedule, The Sith Lords essentially launched unfinished, and for several long years, a butchered version of Obsidian's original intent remained riddled with technical issues – until fan-made patches and the Restoration Project mod were released. Despite all that, there is something so special about him SW: KotOR 2 this makes it so memorable and personal and occupies the mind for a very long time after it has been experienced.
The best Star Wars games on PlayStation Plus
If you have a PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium subscription and love some Star Wars, these games could be perfect for you.
Knights of the Old Republic 2's the game's biggest strength is an ambitious, mature and layered story, driven by characters with lots of personality, internal conflicts, dialogues and interactions, coupled with an influence system that challenges their views on life, changes their dark or light alignment, or even trains as a Jedi or Sith. The much-needed tweaks to combat, progression, and crafting also make the game much more flexible and replayable than its predecessor, offering some pretty drastic changes in how the story unfolds depending on player choices. However, problematic releases, almost non-existent official support in the past and the fact that mechanically The Sith Lords is exactly the same game as the original, prevent it from ranking higher.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
The original plan that unlocked a whole new era of Star Wars
The only, RPG that basically lies on top of every other Star Wars The RPG that followed (and the upcoming The fate of the old republicas it would seem) Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic's the legacy is indisputable. One of BioWare's greatest masterpieces, Kotor has become the gold standard for expecting the same SW titles that feature a vast journey across the galaxy, a spaceship of your own, a team of unlikely allies, training at a Jedi or Sith academy and the choice of the Force, and of course a menacing villain who threatens the peace of the entire galaxy and must be stopped at all costs.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic's the story is elegant and iconic, featuring stunning twists and revelations, while the gameplay is a perfect reimagining of the timeless D&D mechanics. In addition Knights of the Old Republic was the first to offer a glimpse into an unused period Star Wars universe and delivers it as convincingly as possible – and since then the entire Old Republic era has established itself as one of the most popular and fascinating chapters. Simply put, no matter how you slice it, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is the single largest Star Wars An all-time RPG and its timeless legacy deserves to be rediscovered in the upcoming Remake.
