There was a lot of hype for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 since it was first revealed to the world and it's safe to say that it has exceeded expectations. It has cemented itself as one of the best-rated new games of the year, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the clear favorite to win Game of the Year at this year's Game Awards.
The Game Awards, which will take place on December 11, has Expedition 33 competing for Game of the Year against the likes Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Donkey Kong Banana, Hades 2, Hollow Knight: Silksongand Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Despite strong opposition, Expedition 33 most likely to win the grand prize.

Clair Obscur: Expedition has two of my pet peeves in RPGs, and yet it's still the best game I've played in 2025.
If Expedition 33 wins game of the year, it stands to reason that the other categories in which he is nominated will go one after the other. Gaming awards have happened in the past, and history is likely to repeat itself. Why Expedition 33 Shouldn't Win Best Art Direction
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a beautiful game with a creepy art style that perfectly captures its overall depressing tone. It's a visual and gameplay masterpiece and there's no denying that, but what could stand it in this category is the competition and what exactly the voters are looking for. Yes, Expedition 33 looks fantastic but Ghost of Yotei and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach have photorealistic graphics that can help take them over the top. Other games nominated in the category include Hades 2 and Hollow Knight: Silksongwhich both have their strengths, but I think this category will end up being a battle between the two Expedition 33, Death Stranding 2and Ghost of Yotei.
Why the Expedition 33 might not win Best Sound Design
Music in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is nothing short of spectacular. It's legitimately one of the best video game soundtracks of all time, and rightfully so and best. That's why I think so Expedition 33 is a safe bet for best score and music, and I'll be shocked if it loses in that category. The game's sound design is also incredibly impressive, but not to the point where I don't think it has serious competition in this category.
When it comes to the best sound design, Expedition 33 stands against Battlefield 6which uses sound rather brilliantly in its online multiplayer battles, Death Stranding 2, Ghost of Yoteiand Silent Hill f. i think Battlefield 6 however, he is the favorite to win here ARC Raiders he was decisively rejected and would probably have won the award had he been nominated.

Konatsu Kato who did a great job as Hinako Shimizu Silent Hill fit's also about appreciation. i think Indiana Jones may end up being overlooked due to the fact that it was originally released in 2024, which could provide an advantage Ghost of Yotei. Of course, an Expedition 33 performance could still win, but I have my doubts.
Why Expedition 33 might not win the player vote
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has amassed a huge fan base that adores the game. That's also why he made it to the finals of the Player's Voice vote. Unfortunately, he has to deal with not one, but two different gacha games in the form Genshin Impact and Stormy waves.
